If you are buying 3-room flat direct from HDB, your household income must not be above $3k.
 
The smart couple will buy resale 3-room flat for a start.

It is in the interest of the ruling party, to uphold the HDB price at all cost, the political price will be devastating if it spiral downward.

Buy back scheme, Defer installment, loan restructure are all tools that they can use to control any steep decline, since they are the landlord of HDB and they they control CPF, it's not difficult to achieve.

The real problem, is when the CPF fund is insufficient, due to bad investments losses, through complicated proxy between GIC and Temasick's holding companies, then we will see the HDB price real market value.

If we start to see this then PAP days will also be numbered because the dominoes will fall one after another and all the ugly truth that is swept under the carpet for the past 40 years will all surface.
