Chitchat Iphone 7 and apple

I started buying Apple shares way back when they were only US$30 & accumulated more over time. I did sell many of them but fortunately I kept some which back then I paid about $30 to US$150. Then Apple split the shares twice, each time by 2. The third time they did a 1 to 6 split.

Now that they are paying me a dividend & I don't mind holding onto the shares. I've already recoup the costs of buying the shares from the dividends I've received. With interest rates being so low & the poor economy I don't see any better alternatives out there.

The people at Apple are not stupid. Steve Jobs left behind his work ethic. So I am sure they are working on various projects. We are seeing some of it as the company attempts to expand into a services company distributing apps, apple TV, music, the beats headphone company, .... they are rumoured to be working on transport related projects.

They may not have another hit like the iPhone but which other company has managed to achieve a string of hits like Apple:confused:
As long as they can remain relevant for a few more years I'll be happy, then maybe the global economy will have improved & I can cash out some of my stocks & look elsewhere.

How many did you buy? 100? what the holding fees like? you bought through a Singapore brokerage? I recommended a client when AAPL...was $15.....& the company was undergoing transitioning....I think you could guessed when it was....the client bought 1,000 & I don't work there anymore..don't know if client kept until AAPL climbed very high...at $15...was a bargain...many at that price lost faith in Apple...I peered into the 'crystal ball" & saw a future... ha ha ha ha

There is no disk in the iPhone or any phone for that matter.

That is the major grouse I have with the iPhone....my iPhone 5 I am using is aging rapidly, though it is till good...Apple is slowly stopping support for the device, all updates will not include any newer features...only refreshes the internal software...they are giving you a "hint"...upgrade.

That was why I did not upgrade till the September launch & weighing all the options....still no expansion or storage with Micro SD card...but I don't trust Android OS...& Samsung ok with me...but I am a 'fish' out of water...using it.

EXPANDABLE STORAGE...APPLE ARE YOU LISTENING....never mind killing the headphone jack...that is useless also...I hate entangled wires & takes me 5 mins to untangle to plug in, by then...I could have listen to 2 short songs...

Stop storing porn on your phone and you'll have more than enough memory.

I have 16Gb on my phone and I'm only using 40%.

I can't remember how many shares I have now. I bought my shares through Etrade back then the Spore gov't made it difficult for Sporeans to trade US shares because they wanted "lesser mortals" to invest in the local market.

If you wanted to open an account with a local broker which traded in the US market you had to have $$$. So I went with a discount broker. Etrade allowed one to buy single shares or more. They only charged a flat fee of US$10 for buying or selling.

Recently opened an account with TD sinkandSwim & transferred my shares because Etrade has withdrawn from the non-US market. Still trying to understand how to use their platform & that's why I can't say how shares of Apple I have. I think it is at least $1 million.

When the price was cheaper of course I held more of the shares. Wish I had kept more of them Apple share :D Can't really complain since the dividends are giving me a comfortable living.

I haven't worked for years & when I see how difficult it is to find work I really pity the people who are still in the rat race.

Back when I was starting to invest in the US market, the share that I read about was Cisco. It was he share that made people rich. Back then no one could have predicted that Apple would be the next cisco:D

It is because of this positive experience that I believe in investing in the US & Malaysian markets. Even with the weak ringgit, at least I am getting a return from my Malaysian shares. It pays for my trips to malaysia:)

If you want to take photos use a proper camera instead of the mickey mouse device that smart phone manufacturers squeeze into their jack of all trades master of none contraptions.

AM out of the market for 2 years, made enough in 2014, to overhaul my stereo system, go a few holidays including Malaysia. Bet on Airasia & MAS before the news came out...bought them very low, when nobody gave a look...sold it off when rumours started flying... Bought a few Singapore counters that had good dividend yield & price movements....collected dividends & made, bought low & sold high....all positions liquidated....

US Stocks, not worth buying through local brokerage....back then, we do not have internet trading..if not would have locked up that AAPL at $15...sigh!...peeped into 'crystal ball' back then & hd a very strong premonition of the future of APPLE ..

That's life...some you win...

I do have a proper camera....the usefulness of a mobile phone camera is ( not that I like mickey mouse camera), at the moment you talk some shots & don't expect them to be good print quality....I never...& by experience the camera will fill up..& people sent you pics e.g....it gets filled up......an external MicroSD card storage would be just fine if Iphone has it....not that I am found of external storage in mobile phone...sometime, you may never know...

That is my point.....not using my phone to take shots that is good for print...rather for casual, off the cuff, spontaneous moments when you can't lug along that camera..

Actually I am surprised iphone can take pretty nice pictures too. Many a time, I am not ready for the special moment, but the iphone has been a great handy camera. What more , I can also do selfie too.

One cannot have enough storage. On my PC I currently have a 4 TB HDD connected to my SSD drive. I'll probably have to get another 4 TB.

I have a 64GB iPad Air & it's also full. Next time I'll get one with more storage.

I got myself a Sony RX100 because it was small & compact & considered a good camera for it's size.

Although I take it when with me when I travel, I usually leave it in the hotel room. However I always carry my phone with me & that's probably why the iPhone is the most popular camera.

I cannot choose aperture or shutter speed. The flash is pathetic and totally incapable of overpowering the sun. A phone, any phone, is hopeless as a camera. All it can take is snapshots.

Most people requirements is just a snapshots. Which is why mobile phone cameras will always outsell any DSLR for photography.

pay apple usd0.99 for 50gb of cloud storage. you can zap away with your iphone as much as you wish in the day and upload your images into cloud storage the moment you reach your favorite wi-fi hotspot, sip a cocktail, shit a turd, and take a shower. if you are cruising into the sunset, and wi-fi onboard is slow and cost-prohibitive, carry a companion ipad with you and upload all the day's images to the ipad or macbook. when you reach shore, upload images from ipad to icloud. it's as simple as abc. storage in solid state media will eventually run out of memory space or the material will degrade over time. storage in the cloud is the new way to go. you can retrieve it from anywhere. when you drop your phone or ssd in the ocean the images and files are still there for you in the cloud. unless apple the icloud provider goes kaput or it gets acquired or the planet goes into black hole memories, videos and images are literally there forever.

"Outsell" means nothing. Crap always sells well because the majority of people on this earth are stupid.
