I am puzzled why the DSP was charged in court. From facts of case reported, he shouldn't be charged at all. The death was an 'act of god'. No assaults etc leading to death. Something's not right. The only reason I can guess why he was charged - to appease the family of the deceased and for someone to take the rap. From what I read, SOPs were adhered to.

He taking the 'rap' or doing the 'rap', is a secret SOP..not seen, unless under an ultra violet lamp. They must have over did what they should have done, in their standard it is over the top. The DSP was charged is to soothe some quarters, the fine was $10,000 & according to the news report, it was PAID. Wahh!! he must be earning godzillion dollars as a DSP....but then again, in an obscure sentence the rest of the 7 will dealt with...& read further, other disciplinary action will be considered for the DSP..

What what sketchy news, we can concur that the accused must have been manhandled seriously but he started the whole thing in the first place...from there on..it went downhill...

Singapore jails are not 'luxurious'....
You may say they are sanitary, efficient, well orgainized, less prone to corruption (might not be good thing)....but never luxurious....it is one of the most spartan jails around.
In fact prison life here is probably the hardest.

Really? Our prison officers are so delicate? No wonder kena attacked!

Wardens now are softies...from the men to the officers.
Not enough experience....there are many kuailan prisoners that they dunno how to handle....some of the hardcore ones can even challenge wardens to fights.
Everything can be covered up in prison....the fact that this case is made public and the warden convicted means likely this was a private punishment session gone wrong.

You will never know because you will never believe... Whatever they said will you believe??? How you are going to know the truth?? You are not the inmate or the officer... Even the investigation officer may not know the true... Those prison officer can lie too... So the investigation office can only charge the prison officer base on whatever evident he had... And the court can only give sentence base on the evident the investigator produce... They are human not god!!!

This prisoner was a fit young 21yrs. Death cert stated conveniently as Cardio Respiratory Failure which basically means heart attack/failure of heart and lungs.
What caused this? Do u think the Wardens will just restrain him after one of them has just been kicked. What happened to the CTV cameras that could capture all movements? Do not be naive and believe what you read in the papers. There are so many crucial facts not published.
If and only when you talk to the mother, you will understand.

The mother tried to pursue the matter and sue the prisons but is was financially impossible for her as she was jobless.
The husband had a stroke and the family was in financial difficulties. It takes an enormous amount of time, energy, stamina, stress and money to pursue a case like this and that is why goverment/police/courts will drag this case to their advantage.
No man has a right to take another persons life. Only God has the right..
