slurping into the thick hay bee (dried shrimps) laden liang tofu gravy, i realised that INFLATION was a big word artificially inseminated by the gov to enrich their own pockets.
a check with the liang tofu stall revealed that the stallholder old auntie was one of the pioneer hawkers and hence their rental was maintained quite reasonably low. however, other newer stalls or the newcomers would have to pay higher rental which explains the higher costs of their food.
if the gov is really sincere in bring prices down, they should have started with themselves and made the initiative to reduce rentals. but would the gov be that kind and generous to do that?
this brings us to the next question. hawker centres and the likes are suppose to serve the citizens. why is the gov turning it into some profit making rentals revenue collecting machine?
majority of singaporeans rely on hawker centres for their daily meals. if the gov wants to better life of singaporeans, they should start taking account on their avarice and stop their greed from consuming their own conscience first. if not, purposely raising costs and then generously start distributing ang pows appears to be such a wayanged hypocrisy.

It's about into their pocket first before they can brag to the whole wide world that they are kind to Sinkies Singaporeans .

makapaaa: Please tell me where wre the stalls. I will be going back to Singapore soon and I hope to get some cheap food....not enough money to spend for a whole month trip in Singapore lah....some time starting mid Jan next year for my dad's 90th anniversary.

Or frankly I would rather let the old hawkers earn my money than those who hire PRC workers and the resturants.

Each time when I visit my dad, I only do a couple of things.....take my dad to walk around and enjoy the aircon in the AMK Hub and eat at its food court in the upper level, sit at home to chat with my dad or soak in the AMK baby swimming pool to sun bath. This time I will tty to visit the Juniton 8.
