Indonesians pull out of Singapore Air Show

i have the impression that the "pull out" is a premature ejaculation. :o

i think mr lee kuan yew will just pick up the phone
and everything will just settle and return to normal....

They have nothing to loss. Ours is not the only airshow in the world. In fact Indonesia also got their own.

Their "airshow" combined with other trade shows and from what I heard, it was a 10 day affair and the exhibitors were from companies that Indonesia had dealings with. There were few overseas visitors. Some companies were just standing around to entertain Indonesians from all walks of life that had nothing to do with aviation. As a former exhibitor in one of their airshows I have personal experience and it was a big yawn.

Singapore's air show on the other hand is to support the Western war machine.

Maybe he can complain to Suharto when he goes to hell soon.

Singapore did the right thing by protesting.....Indonesia did the right thing by acting miffed....it's just political grandstanding. These things have to be done by either side. Nothing further is going to happen.

A top Indonesian naval officer and other military staff have been told that their invitations to the Singapore Airshow had been cancelled.

Indonesia's Defence Ministry's public communications head Sisriadi Iskandar said Singapore had pulled the invitation to Indonesian navy chief Marsetio and 100 Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) officers last Saturday.

The move comes amid a diplomatic row following Jakarta's decision to name a navy ship after the Indonesian marines who bombed an Orchard Road building, MacDonald House, in 1965 that left three dead and 33 hurt.

Brigadier-General Sisriadi also said Indonesian Deputy Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin decided not to come to Singapore after his counterpart, Second Defence Minister Chan Chun Sing, cancelled their meeting due to take place tomorrow. But sources said it was rescheduled.

So which is which? The chicken or the egg comes first?

It's obvious they r here on us taxpayers expense to wine dine n fuck. So cancel will save some pennies n pussies

Indonesia military to skip Singapore Airshow amid ship row

SINGAPORE Sun Feb 9, 2014 9:23am EST

(Reuters) - Senior Indonesian military leaders have decided not to attend the Singapore Airshow, Singapore's Ministry of Defence said on Sunday, after the eruption of a diplomatic row between the two countries over the naming of a Indonesian naval ship.
Singapore's government has been angered by Jakarta's decision to name a new frigate after two Indonesian marines executed for a 1965 bombing in the city state that killed three people.

The commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces, Gen. Moeldoko, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Budiman and Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff ACM Ida Bagus Putu Dunia along with Indonesia's deputy defence minister, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, have decided that they will not go to the Singapore Airshow, the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry did not provide any reasons for the decision or comment on whether it had rescinded the invitation to the leaders.
The airshow begins on Tuesday and runs until Sunday.

The two marines were convicted for the March 1965 bombing of MacDonald House on Orchard Road during Indonesia's "confrontation" with the newly formed Malaysia, which Singapore was part of at the time.

The marines were executed in Singapore in 1968, but in Indonesia were given the status of national heroes and received a ceremonial funeral.

Several Singapore government ministers contacted their Indonesian counterparts last week asking them to reconsider the ship's name, saying they believed the matter was closed when then-Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew scattered flowers on the marines' graves in 1973.

The row marks another pressure point in the delicate relationship between the two Southeast Asian neighbours whose ties were tested last year when the annual burning of Indonesian forests blanketed Singapore in a thick smog.

"I hope the Indonesian leaders will not sacrifice our bilateral relations, so carefully built up, to domestic politics or through carelessness," Singapore's Second Minister for Defence Chan Chun Sing said in a statement on Friday.

Indonesia has defended the naming decision, saying it is in line with the practice of naming vessels after the country's heroes.

I prefer to believe Singapore's side of the story. Indonesia being one of the worst country in corruption will sell their soul that even their top justice was found guilty

Indonesia arrests top judge on corruption charges

The chief justice of Indonesia's Constitutional Court has been arrested for alleged bribery, officials say.

Akil Mochtar was arrested by anti-corruption officials late on Wednesday for allegedly accepting at least $250,000 (£154,000) in bribes.

Officials say the arrest, the latest in a series of high-profile cases, was linked to a regional election.

The Constitutional Court, established in 2001, holds the same legal standing as the country's Supreme Court.

Its responsibilities include hearing cases concerning the constitution and making decisions on election-related cases.

The court has developed a reputation as a respected judicial institution over the years, observers say.

Mr Mochtar, 62, was elected for a five-year term to the constitutional court this year. He was previously a member of the Golkar party before joining the Constitutional Court.

He was arrested at his home in Jakarta after a businessman and a lawmaker allegedly handed him money, a spokesman for the Corruption Eradication Commission said on Thursday.

The case was linked to a disputed election on Borneo island, the Agence France-Presse news agency says.

Two other people have also been arrested in connection with the case.

Last month, the anti-corruption court found a police general guilty of corruption and money laundering.

Djoko Susilo was sentenced to 10 years in prison and handed a fine.
