The Malays come from the same stock as those indos from the Riau Archipelago. Yes, generally darker than, say, the Javanese.
Interesting.
The riau archeipelago is quite small.
Btw someone mentioned that malays came from sumatra. Since malaysia is in the north and i am sure it is the homeland of the malays, they should have come from other places too?
Yep, here u are
Thanks for the pics.
Are these ppl from iran jaya or papua new guinea????
Are they bullied by the indon govt like u know how US or OZ treats the indians and the abos, do they have special rights like how abos and red indians do and also ughers in china do????
They may be rite. I mentioned same stock, not Riau as the original birthplace of Malays. The stock actually covers the present Malaysia, South Thailand, South Phillipines, Riau, Sumatra, Borneo and Sulawesi, to name the major areas.
IC sorry for not reading it right.
They actually cover such a wide area but yet are so different in terms of culture and religion. If they are in thailand they would most likely be buddhist, muslim in matland and catholic in phillippines.
I wonder why they never formed a nation of their own? And language wise well it's so different although similar.
If there was no china of today's size we could be like them having a few countries in that region but actually coming from the same race.
Btw java is next to sumatra but so different from them.
They belong to the island called New Guinea, the borderlines are political, not geographical). If they are in Irian Jaya or Papua, they are Indonesian citizens (yes, they have voting rights! )
As with backward tribes, they of course have had their share of injustice. Things are improving though. Thanks to oil and gas reserves, lives are improving.
No, Islam has made them very insular. They are basically the muslims in south Thailand and south Philippines. Of course, those who migrated northwards have integrated into the mainstream.
About the Javanese and Sumatrans, the strait separated them for generations, hence the the difference. But of course, today, there no black and white distinction as you travel from west to east, more like a grey phase transition
Bro pia, many photos "disappear". But thank you for all the eye candies!
