Singaporean man returns lost $10,000 to 3 China construction workers, who are moved to tears out of relief and gratitude. If someone just returned you your entire life savings that you accidentally lost, and that your wife and children back in your home country was desperately waiting for in order to survive, you'd cry too.

A man found an old wallet containing the equivalent of SGD$10,000 near a construction site in Singapore.

As most of the money was in Renminbi currency, he concluded that it had to belong to one of the foreign workers at the site.

Together with his wife and son, he waited at the spot for over two hours until three frantic-looking Chinese nationals showed up in search of the wallet.

After verification, the man returned the wallet to the three workers, who were moved to tears and thanked him profusely. They also spoke of how 'good' Singaporeans are.

The money had been their entire savings which they were supposed to send home to China.

On the other hand, sometimes trying to do a good deed or the right ethical thing, doesn't always pay back with an appreciative thank you or the right ethical reciprocation.

Found 1.8k on at ATM. Took it to police station. Wasted my few hours as police write down the serial #. Bank called me a few times instigating me, making sure I didn't take anything, I told them just contact the police, I handed it over. No thanks, no appreciation, the owner didn't even bother to thank me, after I received a letter a few days telling me owner collected and a thanks from the bank Seriously not worth the effort.

It's depend on the individual , once I pick up a wallet near my house Neighbourhood.. There was some money and an IC in the wallet so I decided to return it by sending it to the owner house.. I rang on the door bell and the owner came out. I said I found his wallet. I passed it to him.. Without even saying thank you. He just shut the door.. Wtf do I owe him anything?

I picked up a wallet with four of $1,000 with couple of $100 notes and three local credit cards. I called the credit card company and told them to inform the owner to contact me. After half an hour, he called and told me to wait for him for 15 minutes as he was nearby. A well dressed man came 2 hours later, checked his wallet, counted the cash and without saying a word, walk away. Sometimes, it would be better to just bring those lost & found items to the police station. Yes, he is a PR from India.
