If PAP lost heavily but still form government with more than half seats in parliament, they will convert as many foreigners into new citizen as possible so that before next election, the true blue citizens will be minority, thus securing their own future and recover from there.

If a coalition gahmen cannot be formed, then there will be a re-election with probably more time for Singaporeans to get up to scratch with the issues concerned.

If GCT's promise is right, then even new PAP recruits are well worth the risk of losing ministers in GRC elections just to bring them into parliament (e.g. Ong Ye Kung, Koh Poh Koon). Also not all opposition are competent persons, even if the opposition were to win a bumper 3 GRCs incl Aljunied, PAP would still control the other 12 which is still a way larger majority by any standards.
