My take?

If PAP lost heavily but still form government with more than half seats in parliament, they will convert as many foreigners into new citizen as possible so that before next election, the true blue citizens will be minority, thus securing their own future and recover from there.

Therefore, it is critical and last chance for true blue citizen to prevent PAP to have this chance to recover to block them.
