All along, the unsuspecting Sinkie would think that the People's Association kindergartens are run by the government (here, PA = PAP = government).

Ministry of Education now announced that the government will build kindergartens.

Does it mean that there were officially no government kindergartens before this? In other words, the government has totally neglected pre-school and has left it all to the private sector.

<!-- /CAPTION -->SINGAPORE - Parents can look forward to pre-schools set up by the Ministry of Education (MOE) soon. Primary-school pupils and secondary-school students will also benefit from extra support in learning, going by announcements made during the Budget debate yesterday.
Here are some highlights.
New MOE kindergartens
For the first time, MOE will establish 15 kindergartens over the next three years in the heartland. They will be located in primary schools and community sites, and five will enrol Kindergarten One pupils next year.
Education Minister Heng Swee Keat said that the best practices from this pilot will be shared with other pre-school operators so as to "catalyse improvements across the sector".
MOE will announce details of admission procedures in about two weeks.
More learning support
Specialised help in literacy and numeracy for pupils and students will be rolled out in primary and secondary schools over the next two years.
To help facilitate various support programmes, MOE will deploy 600 primary- and secondary-school teachers.

Last year, mathematics support lessons were piloted in four primary schools and six secondary schools, including Bedok View Secondary School.
</pagebreak></p>Teachers are trained to help students grasp abstract maths concepts with novel methods.
For instance, students can use the game Snake and Ladders to learn algebra, or calculate costs of food orders from a menu to learn about decimals.
As a result, Madam Tan Siew Li, 34, a maths teacher at Bedok View, said she found that students were less resistant to the subject, and were more motivated to learn.
Students will also benefit from having two teachers on hand during these lessons. Madam Tan said: "Some of them are afraid to raise their hands to ask questions. With a co-teacher walking around the classroom, they are more willing to ask."
To help children from lower-income backgrounds, especially those from non-English-speaking households, MOE will extend literacy support learning to another 100 pre-schools over the next two years.
Good citizen books return
MOE will be pushing for values and character development among students, and will reintroduce the Good Citizen series of textbooks. The refreshed books will be published in Chinese, Malay and Tamil.

the PA is pappies. so the kids there are PUPPIES - future running dogs of pappes, maybe?

White is white, any shade of white is still white, whiter shade of pale is still white. Does this mean. MOE kindergarten is built & run by the government, it belongs to the PAP government? You do not vote for the PAP, your child is automatically denied enrollment & then to school, for MOE is PAP government too??

PA board members consists of PAP government officials, does that mean PCF Kindergartens are run & built by the PAP government also? & the above condition applies too?

So, white is white, any shade of white is still WHITE!! Many trees makes a forest, produces wood that comes from trees, now they are confusing the 60% with the trees & forest!!! ha ha ha ha :D
