Malaysia is our closest neighbour, Singapore and Malaysia shares a lot not just the people but economically, financial, trade, logistics, security etc etc, what happens to them will inevitably affect us.

Looks like the inevitable is going to happen soon if nothing is being done quickly. If Malaysia collapse economically should Singapore bail them out?

SINGAPORE - The ringgit has slumped to its weakest level against the Singdollar in at least 33 years, on the back of an ongoing decline in global crude oil prices.

One Singdollar could buy 2.67 ringgit on Friday, compared with 2.63 ringgit at the beginning of the month.

The currency is now even weaker than it was during the Asian financial crisis - one Singdollar could buy 2.66 ringgit in January 1998.

Analysts say Malaysia is likely to be among the Asian countries hit hardest by the precipitous decline in global oil prices, with the ringgit expected to continue weakening until crude oil prices stabilise.

Oil-related industries account for a third of Malaysian state revenue.

Another piece of pre-election propaganda.

An overly strong currency may not necessarily be a good thing. ;)

The way things are going now, it will be Malaysia who will bail out our sorry asses .

During those time, Mahathir was at the helm, he's got balls, I think the current executives only know how to squander and the problem is no more kachang puteh

If the ringgit falls, you should be looking to invest in high end property. Take advantage of the weakness to get a good piece of property in KL.

Another financial crisis going to happen soon?

yes. hahahhah that what I said since early this year. replay of world financial crises. even the USA and europe all are shitting in their pants... high oil prices = inflation. low oil prices= deflation!!!!!!!!! money is king and interests rates wo0uld definitely sky rocket soon. all those with multiple mortagage would be jumping not for joy (off buildings). wonderful to see all these speculators suffer.
decline in financial assets tied to oil increase the tendency toward global financial instability. Oil deflation lead to widespread bankruptcies and defaults for various non-financial companies, which will in turn precipitate financial instability events in banks tied to those companies. The collapse of financial assets associated with oil could also have a further ‘chain effect’ on other forms of financial assets, thus spreading the financial instability to other credit markets. tons of money and capital would flow out of singapore soon and couple with china clampdown on corruption, happy days are here again!!!
