SPH's results yesterday which shows a 20% drop in earnings.
I have stopped my subscription for Straits Times for more than a year and I am a much happier person because of it. No more having to read articles that make me nearly vomit for the lack balanced perspective, No more reading about the 'greatness' of oiur founding father ....they write as if Singapore's success is due to one man, the rest of the country full of slouches and bums who would have achieved nothing if not for his 'vision' ...which is really insulting for the millions of men and women who have contributed to the countries success.
The paper is just an extension of the govt - its propaganda arm, the Fox News of Singapore. Its existence prevents change in Singapore and polarises the country by
shaping a large segment of the populace to lopsided view against democracy, against equality, against human rights and against justice. What good is a newspaper if it has so little morality and no sense of justi? It is not the voice of the people but the loudhailer of the govt.
The only thing worth looking at in the Straits Times is the advertisements of weekend electronics sales. That Courts is selling a 42" Smart TV for $800 is more important than reading the pages of worthless propaganda that try to mold our minds to take on a perspective helpful to the acceptance of the PAP's system.
More and more Singaporeans stop wasting money on the Straits Times. Propaganda ought to be at least free...better still, we should be paid to read not the other way around.
