SPH's results yesterday which shows a 20% drop in earnings.

I have stopped my subscription for Straits Times for more than a year and I am a much happier person because of it. No more having to read articles that make me nearly vomit for the lack balanced perspective, No more reading about the 'greatness' of oiur founding father ....they write as if Singapore's success is due to one man, the rest of the country full of slouches and bums who would have achieved nothing if not for his 'vision' ...which is really insulting for the millions of men and women who have contributed to the countries success.

The paper is just an extension of the govt - its propaganda arm, the Fox News of Singapore. Its existence prevents change in Singapore and polarises the country by
shaping a large segment of the populace to lopsided view against democracy, against equality, against human rights and against justice. What good is a newspaper if it has so little morality and no sense of justi? It is not the voice of the people but the loudhailer of the govt.

The only thing worth looking at in the Straits Times is the advertisements of weekend electronics sales. That Courts is selling a 42" Smart TV for $800 is more important than reading the pages of worthless propaganda that try to mold our minds to take on a perspective helpful to the acceptance of the PAP's system.

More and more Singaporeans stop wasting money on the Straits Times. Propaganda ought to be at least free...better still, we should be paid to read not the other way around.

The ST provides the most balanced view of the issues that face the country.

Fox News may not be perfect and maybe infiltrated but it's still better than the dhimmi leftist news agency like CNN, BBC etc.

With internet who nid newspapers unless it's for ur dog poo , wrapping nasi lemak , sitting on while outside dating ur Pinoy maid gf

Pap already knows that. NOW IT RESORTS to stuffing free Today newspaper at your gate to force you to read.

I prefer the good old days newspapers such as Sin Chew, Nanyang, Latpau etc which have been abolished.
by the way Berita Harian reporter Zaid Zahari was jailed 17yrs.
please dont risk the lifes of our reporters

The rot will continue as long as the PAP remains self righteous.

To be fair, I find its movie reviews and Sports section quite balanced and objective. :D

So NTUC instead of running unions to protect peasants becomes Supermart.
And ST instead of voicing out concerns of peasants becomes Entertainment News.

WELCOME TO UNIQUELY SINGAPORE :D

You can imagine PAP ministers and Mps having a good life in Sinkieland for the last few decades. No need to face check and balance of an independent media. No one scruntinises them at all.

Yet PaP tells you there are underpaid. Earning millions and no media scruntiny.

gave a 2nd tablet to my neighbour and allow to share my wifi.

after teaching to get all the news from internet, also cancelled the shittimes sub

In a way your quitter opinion may be fair, but I do still look for papers produced by the SPH. I need them for my paper trained mutt.

The rag n bone guys loves collecting old newspapers to resell it for recycling.

Maybe this could be the reason why many foreigners are going round collecting such stuff.

The ST and Today newspapers supplied on board SQ flights (Silkair included) face the same "rude" treatment.

The disembarking passengers just throw it all over the seats and aisles.

Straits Times just like the PAP has lost its relevance after years of misdirection.

:D
