Why make everyone inconvenient and waste time travel from the city to the airport..

It is simple. To get from Airport to city, you need to take either the train or Limo, both own by Mahathir and his cronies then. Its big bucks for them.

Why are Sporeans putting up with having an ugly,..,incompetent in charge of Temasek. Why does Changi have such high airport taxes.....

Spore & Malaysia have their useless & corrupted officials.

kay-al has mor space ... ass-jee dun hv dat luxury ...

That has been the trend in all major cities - the airport is away from the city. Narita, Chak Lap Kok, Changi etc. In some cases, the airport for the city is not even within the city e.g. Toronto airport is in Mississauga.

Most countries build their airports as faraway from city and residential areas as possible. The reasons being price of land, noise pollution and danger of aircraft crashing into densely populated areas.

Or to drive up the value of the waste land the airport was built upon and its surrounding areas, like thailand's suvarnabhumi. Once a project is announce, once next to worthless land suddenly skyrocket in prices

Im wondering which airport is built in a city center?

HK & BKK airport also damn far from city mah.

Singapore used to have Kallang Airport, right between Geylang and downtown. The control tower is still there. It's now the People's Association building. Later shifted to Payar Lebar, and then of course Changi as we know it now. HK used to have Kai Tak Airport right in the middle of downtown Kowloon, later shifted to Chap Lap Kok as we know it now, practically in China and even Shenzhen is nearer.

Airports faraway from cities is the norm nowadays. For example, Tokyo airport is not in Tokyo, it's in the outskirt town of Narita; San Francico airport is not in San Francisco, it's in the outskirt town of Burlingame.

So that the airport is closed to Kuala Lumpur and the administrative captial, Putrajaya (or whatever the name is)

The other reason is it create taxi, bus driver jobs for the mats :D

makes sense.

Almost everything that has been said so far is valid. If you think about it, though, Sepang is already quite far away from KL. So why have it moved further? Well, I heard from sources that Mahathir foresaw that KL would grow into a megapolis that would adjoin if not engulf KLIA.

if an A380 loaded with passengers were to crash in the city centre....do you know how many casualties it would incur?

Do not understand why this could even become a topic to talk about. The reasons are obvious. Do you really want the airport to be just next to your house ??? Use your brains man !!!
