I would like to bring to your attention that putting a wake in a HDB void deck is really unhygenic, because of the rotting carcasses at temperature of 30 degrees celcius really speeds up the process of rotting. It may bring the spread of diseases if any insects came into contact with the body.

Where did this practise come from? Even in Ah Tiong country they don't practise this unhygenic practises any more, even in their temperate environment.

Did we inherit this kampong traditions during the early 20th century when our forefathers immigrated from China?

Why do we still continue to practise this?

Superstituous or just $$$$$$?

You are right about this.

I think they have embalming liquid.

Even Christians have wakes. Only Muslims bury on the same day.
