5G手機大戰正式拉開序幕，繼三星發布5G版本的Galaxy S10後，華為亦發表最新5G手機。該部可折疊屏的5G手機Mate X，售價高達2,299歐元（約20,460港元），將於今年第2季發售。其餘內地手機生商OPPO及小米（1810），亦紛紛加入戰團。
華為Mate X採用外翻式設計，全機有一個可摺疊的屏幕，展開時為8吋，摺合時前屏幕為6.6吋，後屏幕為6.38吋。手機內置雙電池，提供4500mAh電力，以及支援SuperCharge 55W快速充電。另外，其機身厚度為11mm，重量達295g。
此前美國總統特朗普稱，或會發行政命令禁止華為及其他中國電訊設備供應商進入美國市場。華為輪值董事長郭平在出席世界移動通訊大會時表示，美國不代表全世界，華為沒有美國也能繼續成功，而華為以5G技術取得全球領導地位，已領先競爭對手12個月。
此外其他中資手機生產商亦公布其5G手機。OPPO在OPPO創新大會上，宣布與來自全球4間電訊商合作，推出支持5G網絡的手機，今年將在歐洲、大洋洲、亞洲等市場上市。小米則發表旗下「Mi MIX3」的5G版本手機，定價為599歐元（約5,331港元）。

The 5G mobile phone war officially kicked off. After Samsung released the 5G version of the Galaxy S10, Huawei also released the latest 5G mobile phone. The Mate X, a 5G mobile phone with foldable screens, sells for €2,299 (approximately HK$20,460) and will be available in the second quarter of this year. The rest of the mainland mobile phone business OPPO and Xiaomi (1810), have also joined the battle group.
Huawei Mate X adopts an eversion design. The whole machine has a foldable screen. When it is expanded, it is 8 inches. When it is folded, the front screen is 6.6 inches, and the rear screen is 6.38 inches. The phone has a built-in dual battery that provides 4500 mAh of power and supports SuperCharge 55W for fast charging. In addition, its body thickness is 11mm and its weight is 295g.
Earlier, US President Trump said that an executive order would be issued to prohibit Huawei and other Chinese telecommunications equipment suppliers from entering the US market. Guo Ping, chairman of Huawei's rotating chairman, said at the World Mobile Communications Conference that the United States does not represent the world. Huawei, the world's second-largest smartphone vendor after Samsung Electronics, said it had taken the lead on developing phones for 5G - which promise super fast Internet speeds for consumers and businesses - because it was also involved in developing the networks.
"This phone is not only for today for 5G but also for future 5G. On all the benchmarks you can see the performance, the speed is the fastest for 5G in the world," said Mr Richard Yu, head of Huawei's consumer business group.
Speaking in Barcelona on the eve of the mobile industry's biggest global event, Mr Yu said the Huawei Mate X will have two back-to-back screens which unfold to become an eight-inch tablet display.
He said the Mate X would be able to download a 1 gigabyte movie in three seconds.
When it goes on sale later this year, its price tag is expected to be a new record high for a consumer smartphone.

This is the only way to BEAM 9Gpps of microwave data to your phone. They know which direction and how far are you from the base station and within a tiny area. The system naturally knows where your are or else cannot serve you 5G connection. They know you are either in this room or the next. That's how well they can locate you!

fiber will never be obsolete lah. behind every 5g massive mimo antenna is fiber running to a 5g base station and behind every 5g radio is fiber running to a baseband unit and server and behind every 5g bbu and server is fiber running to a data center and behind every data center is fiber running to another data center and to the internet cloud. in fact fiber constitutes 69% of a 5g network. only the last 696 feet do you get 5g wireless access.
