Many dislike going to the dentist because we all like to avoid pain :)

However if you want to maintain good dental hygiene it is important to visit a dentist regularly to detect & avoid serious problems. I visit the dentist whenever I visit Thailand because there are no long queues & the price for a cleaning is only 800baht, less than $34.

I used to get cavities despite brushing regularly until I took some extra steps. The cost of dental care in Spore is not cheap & it is cheaper to avoid problems than to fix problems. On a recent dental visit I only had a clean(scaling) without any other problems.

Here are the steps I took:
1) Use an electric oral B toothbrush
2) use an oral irrigator
3) use a mouth wash, https://sg.iherb.com/pr/Essential-Oxygen-Organic-Brushing-Rinse-Peppermint-16-fl-oz-480-ml/28373

Twice a day, morning & evening, I would use first the oral irrigator to flush out the food debris. Then I would squirt the mouth wash(BR-brushing rinse) into my mouth to gargle. With the mouth wash still in my mouth, I would use the electric toothbrush with fluoride free toothpaste. Then finally spit everything out.

I DO NOT use products like like listerine because it contains alcohol, fluoride, ... I find that the BR mouth wash has safer ingredients:
Food-Grade Hydrogen Peroxide + Organic Essential Oils

1% FGHP
Aloe Vera
Peppermint
Clove
Lemon
Eucalyptus Cinnamon
Rosemary

It is also priced reasonably at SIN$13.35

The use of an oral irrigator & electric toothbrush did improve my dental hygiene. Only had one cavity in 3 years. The inclusion of a product like BR has I think proved it further. So far no cavities found after 1 year of use.

Sorry I don't know because haven't visited a local dentist in a long while. I've been visiting the dentists in Thailand whenever I go there on holiday.

Water irrigators is a devices which create a water jet to clean the mouth like those water sprays used by a dentist. A water jet can reach places a brush cannot reach.

In Spore you can find the brand water pik at Home Fix at the Novena Square(next to Cold Storge)

I had a water pik but it lasted only 2 years & I replaced it with the one sold by Song-Cho http://www.songcho.com.sg/showroom
I find the one sold at Song Cho better quality & it is also cheaper about $140

Can also find them online
http://list.qoo10.sg/s/WATER-IRRIGATOR?keyword=water+irrigator&keyword_auto_change=
http://www.lazada.sg/shop-health-beauty/?q=water+irrigator&boost=1

I got good results by using an electric tooth brush and a water irrigator but even better results by adding the mouth wash.

Are you going to Pattaya? If you are I can recommend the one near the hotel I stay in Pattaya.

For simple procedures like cleaning & cavities all the dentists there can do that.

Nice place to holiday. If you are only going to BKK then just find the many dental offices there. In BKK I've only visited the Bumrungrad Hospital dental clinic & unfortunately the prices there are high, the same as Spore.

Just OPEN YOUR MOUTH AT DENTIST, and then pay their bills! You moron or what? :D LOL!

johnny333, I've since a year ago changed from Oral B Braun (used it for 5 years) to the Philips Sonicare and I love it, can feel its cleaner and easy to the gum, take a look

Bro Johnny, I have just been introduced to this ancient method called "oil pulling" by a Thai pharmacist.

You might want to also give it a try:

https://wellnessmama.com/7866/oil-pulling/

Heard about oil pulling but you need the time. Using an oral irrigator, electric tooth brusn & mouth wash is quicker.

Something else people can consider is using charcoal. You may have noticed that shops are now selling charcoal infused tooth brushes. The reason for the charcoal is that it will clean & detox your mouth. You can do the same by simply getting a bottle of activated charcoal & using an ordinary tooth brush.

The activated charcoal is cheap. I got a bottle of of 100 capsules for less than SIN$11.00. https://sg.iherb.com/pr/Nature-s-Way-Charcoal-Activated-280-mg-100-Capsules/1846 Other than brushing your teeth with it, you can also swallow the capsules to do a detox of your body.

The reason why activated is good for your health:

Novamin.

It's the only man-made formula medically proven to repair tooth decay.

Used to be licensed out to different toothpaste brands, until GSK bought over the entire Novamin company for a few hundred million dollars to use Novamin exclusively for their own Sensodyne (only the Repair & Protect series) toothpaste.

I've about 2 years supply of Oral B brushes, After I've used them up I will probably be looking at a replacement. By then there will probably new models with new features. From reading about the 2 brands, Phillips & Braun, they are equally good. http://www.bestelectrictoothbrushlist.com/
