How to get more gals to participate..

One of my biggest failures with the old coffee shop was the gender imbalance of the participants.

50% of Singaporeans are females but hardly any of them come here. Most will go to the "girly" forums with the girly look, feel and colour schemes.

With the vbulletin format, I can solve the "look & feel" part. The girls can use this skin and they'll feel right at home with the surroundings. The bigger problem is how to get them to start posting. I've created a section just for the ladies but I doubt if any of them will bite anytime soon.

All suggestions will be welcome as to how to get at least 20 females of good repute to participate on a regular basis. :p

There were a number of females what. What talking you??? Unless u want like 50% females so there is a balance of genders in the forum????????



Well for what???? This si the internet. Anyone can be anything or anyone.


Why not you ask the registrant to state their gender since ur so keen to attract the other sex???? I seen it before in some forums.

Sinkie girls are more interested in foreign dicks, gossips, material stuffs etc etc

And they spent more of their time getting jealous of each other, mudslinging, attracting attention like 2 of the most famous female bloggers in SG.

you should bribe wendy and dawn, those sinkies blogger to be member. then their sinkies fans will come. also you need more threads, about what fashion, what makeup, what bf to avoid etc.
basically if 50 percent of threads are from gals, the guys here will leave for stomping and other delphiforum which just sprang up.

absolutely spot on. I'm not being sexist but I've yet to meet a sinkie girl who can hold an intellectual conversation about current affairs, who is worldly-wise about matters, who possesses good general knowledge, and who most importantly can change my stereotyping of them as a bunch of nimcompoops.

even if you could find sinkie girl who, let's say, isn't apolitical, it's hard to expect her to have the calculated cynicism that most of our current forumers seem to possess in abundance, and which can only be honed by going through 2 years of enforced slavery. so yes, I would prefer for the forum to stay as it is, thank you very much.

i saw even in other forum where there are discusion abt politics, abt sg matters, yes u see posts but few.
in other section abt cosmetics, fashion etc, many posts.

gals dun bother too much abt these.

imho, trying to attract them here might be a torture to urself.

You need a few new categories to attract them:

1. Beauty and skincare
2. Fashion and accessories
3. Bitch about your firends/colleagues/mothers-in-law

You'll be attracting the chow ah quas too

It's the topics that can be found here. As with all websites and forums, contents are the main thing that draw repeats visits. girls have different interests from guys. You notice that cozycot and flowerpod have a lot more females than males. For sammy, we have more males than females.

To get a gender balance, we'll need a balance of contents that interest females and males. Since male and female brains are programmed differently, we'll have to get females to start some threads with topics of interest to the female gender. Infiltrate the other forums filled with females and participate actively. Post innocent references of this forum in there and they will probably click here and read. If you hold their interests, they will come back.

Easy to say, hard to develop into reality.

When the biggest population in the forum is made up of guys, and seeing the way they post, I don't think that girls will be willing to come in and make any comments. The old delphi is a very good example.

Besides, you might even need to shift the topic focus to suit them!

Hai Yah, Boss Leongsam. All the guys flock to sammyboy cos they know this is a good place to find gals. Then you must try to promote this as a place to find hunks. Hamsome hunks, Rich B-------, Smart A--, Muscleman, etc.. Post new categories for the gals to search easy. You will seel gals flocking to your sites.
