Younger citizens would form their political opinions based on what their parents and teachers tell them

Singaporeans, whether young or old are genetically are of the human race and therefore should display the same interest in politics as any one else in the world.

Unfortunately the environment does not allow or encourage political activities. You can see that in the workplace, school, and in social gathering where discussions on politics are absent, restrained or superficial.

Can you guess why? Do you think that Singapore have a problem such as blood disorder that prevents them in engaging actively in politics?

One other country and this is extreme example is North Korea. I undestand that their citizens are in the same boat where political discussions are limited.

:p:p:p good to note that most of the electorate living in the western part of Singapore did not get to vote in the last GE due to walk-overs. :p:p:p

and if you were at the counting centres, you'd notice that vote counting can be a rather noisy affair :biggrin::biggrin:

bro,

i concede that the young minds are pretty impressionable, but i suspect that the formation of their opinions on the politicians would be largely attributed to the media.

good to note that folks don't spend that much time with their own kids these days, and that most educators do toe the invisible line, i.e. being reluctant to touch on topics like religious/political issues.

while we are still on this topic on the educators, i do not recall any of my teachers talking much about the political system here in Singapore. your teachers do?
