Housing agent fined for forgery
By Elena Chong, Courts Correspondent
A REAL estate agent who forged a tenancy agreement was fined $4,000 on Thursday. David Wee Sim Chye, 47, who runs his own business YMB International, had admitted to fraudulently signing the signature of the tenant on the landlord's copy of the tenancy agreement on May 26, 2007.
A second similar charge involving the landlord was considered during his sentencing. A district court heard that in May 2007, Wee found a tenant, Mr Warren Duplantis, an American ship builder, for Mr Pek Kain Hock, 51, owner of a Parc Oasis apartment, at a monthly rental $4,800.
In October that year, the tenant met Mr Pek to discuss about the early termination of the tenancy agreement due to certain issues. The victim told Mr Pek that his signature in the tenant's column in the copy of tenancy agreement with Mr Pek had been forged.
