Hougang's future?

PAP MPs have been hinting that a by-election in Hougang may not be called by the PM after all.

That's a possibility as LHL knows that PAP will not be able to wrestle Hougang from WP's stronghold. But PAP will suffer irreparable damage to its standing including on the international front.

Yes, last week, I thought of a similar possibility too...

PM Lee might just keep waiting until 2016, when he can just convert Hougang SMC into a Ward of his invincible Ang Mo Kio GRC! haha

Otherwise, how else can PAP ever win back Hougang as an SMC?
Hougang, and now its next-door neighbour – Aljunied GRC, are already so pro-WP and anti-PAP that I doubt it will let PAP win…

In my opinion, holding a by-election for Hougang this year would just be a waste of time for PAP, especially if it ends up losing again, in which case it would not only have lost time and energy, it would also have lost face once again!

I think it would be better for the PAP government to just appoint one of the WP's NCMPs as the new MP for Hougang, so that everyone can move on…

Besides, since NCMPs theoretically have less responsibilities and therefore easier jobs than those of normal MPs, maybe one of those WP NCMPs should just be tasked to do the job of a Hougang MP…

Whoever wins is NOT the issue.
It is whether it will be held in the first place (The BE).
If NOT held the decision made by the PM will be painful.
If held and the WP wins, the people's decision will be respected.
If the PAP wins even by 2 votes, it wil prove that the PAP is still loved.
I call upon the PM to HOLD the BE and let the People Decide.

Actually for pap, there is no hurry.
They will let the hougang residents prolong the memory of their disgraced YSL.
At the same time, this is the best time to start winning their hearts when the mood is low.
Then they will give out goodies prior to the by election or next election.
The game is now on their side.
WP lose this time round by cutting off his right limb.
