RACE 1
There is no stopping Joao Moreira these days. He gets aboard one of the leading chances in
Zac Generation (4) and the combination should make a strong bid inside the last furlong. On his easy win at his last start, Top Happiness (3) should be able to put his best foot forward again. Big say. Monte Cristo (2) showed a slight improvement at his last start second-up from a layoff. The mile should suit him better. Can surprise. April’s Knight (8) is slowly coming back to his best. He looks suited here and a forward effort won’t surprise.
RACE 2
This looks easier for Charly B (3). Runs on fairly in his races and he should take a hand in this. A Cut Above (5) will strip fitter from his debut race when he ran a close fifth to Sichuan Ruler. Improvement expected. The sparingly-raced Lucky Diamond (4) goes well fresh and must not be overlooked in this race. Debutant Mel (2) scored a nice barrier trial win on January 19. Faces a stiff task from the awkward alley. Place chance.
RACE 3
On his last-start closing third, More Than Worthy (5) should be hard to beat in this moderate affair. The extra 200m will come in handy too. High Fly Marco (8) stormed home from near-last at his last outing only to find one better. Seems to handle grass better. Big say. Falling (1) has made further headway and is one to be taken seriously from now on. Drawn a lot better this time. War Crusader (6) has not done too badly in his three runs. Room for improvement. May run a place this time.
RACE 4
Tzar (3) ran fairly first-up and should be more prominent this time with a run under his belt. Yoyo (2) is dropping back in grade but is reverting to grass for the first time since his debut run 1 ½ years ago when he ran fourth. Bold showing expected. Ravoux (10) is back in form and can be counted on from now on. Go close. Shinkansen (6) cannot be ignored after the way he routed his rivals last time out. But he jumps from a wide gate this time and may have to be used early to find the lead.
RACE 5
Debutant Firth (7) scored an impressive barrier trial win on January 26. With Joao Moreira doing the honours, he must be respected. Former Malaysian-based colt Baby Face (4) lost no marks against emerging stars like Speedy Cat and Shuttle Man. Solid claims. Pied Piper (9) ran above expectations at debut. On that run, he should be one of the leading hopes here. Winkers on. Captain Mandolin (5) trialled fairly and may able to sneak into the minors at debut.
RACE 6
Not a race brimming with leading chances. Kuti Kuti (4) has been running in the money of late. Nicely drawn in gate No 2. Main danger for him will be Incredible Hulk (1) who finished strongly for third at his last start. Takeshi (5) is still winless in 21 starts but does run on at times. Keep safe. Elysium (8) hit the lead too early at his last run. Shortened trip more up his alley.
RACE 7
The step-up to 2000m should suit Michael (1) to a tee. From barrier No 1, he should be able to get a good posie on the rails before he launches his challenge in the home straight. Tangible Assets (4) is another one with a big finish. He links up with jockey Alan Munro again. Should be charging home late. Bee Ahead (2) came up short by a narrow margin last time out. Expect him to rush home too. Boy (3) turned in a cracking run with the blinkers on at his last start. Has task ahead but can still acquit himself well again.
RACE 8
It’s taken a while but Enzo (8) is finally knocking on the door. He made plenty of ground at his last start and should be even more dangerous with jockey Joao Moreira aboard this time. Atlixco (6) is another galloper who has taken a while to show any ability. The blinkers may have done the trick at his last start. Extra 200m will suit. Top Three (5) has been thereabouts of late and deserves respect again. Lucky Steed (9) mixes his form but on his best form, he is not without a place chance in this lot.
RACE 9
An open race to wrap up the night. Affirmation (12) is backing up after his solid second to the smart Better Life last Friday. Drawn awkwardly this time, though. Still a leading hope.
Last-start winner Awakened (8) is nicely drawn but faces a stronger bunch this time. Should be in the hunt. Arapuni (1) mixes his form but if his last-start second is anything to go by, he should be right in the calculations again. Magic Haul (6) made stacks of ground over 1200m first-up from a three-month break. He will relish the 1400m better.
