羅湖懲教所34歲女囚犯胸圍上吊 懲教署職員及時制止

【星島日報報道】懲教署公布，職員在羅湖懲教所制止一名34歲女性在囚人士企圖上吊自殺。該名在囚人士在8月因違反逗留條件而被判入獄。
下午12時10分，懲教人員發現該名在囚人士在囚室內用胸圍繫於囚室鐵柵企圖上吊自殺，懲教人員立即召喚支援到場，並將她救下。她當時清醒，其後被轉送至公立醫院作進一步診治。部門臨牀心理學家會跟進有關個案。
懲教署表示，一直採取一切可行措施，包括行政安排、改良院所設施、職員培訓及急救護理等，以防止在囚人士自殺或作出自殘行為。

[Sing Tao Daily reported] The Correctional Services Department announced that staff at the Lo Wu Correctional Institution stopped a 34-year-old female person in custody attempting to hang himself. The person in custody was sentenced to jail in August for breach of conditions of stay.
At 12:10 pm, the correctional officers discovered that the person in custody had hanged himself in the cell with a bust in the cell. The correctional officer immediately summoned the support and rescued her. She was awake at the time and was later transferred to a public hospital for further treatment. Departmental clinical psychologists will follow up on relevant cases.
The Correctional Services Department has stated that it has been taking all practicable measures, including administrative arrangements, improvement of the facilities of the institutions, staff training and emergency care, to prevent persons in custody from committing suicide or self-harm.
