A gambling den has surfaced in the woods near Jurong Road where some 30 to 40 people usually gather to play dice.
The den, located next to Bukit Batok’s heavy vehicle park, is said to have been in business for over a month.
According to a source, the den is run by a 50 to 60 year-old auntie known only as “Ah Ying”.
“Ah Ying” is said to usually switch her business between two locations, the one near Jurong Road and another one in the wilderness of Choa Chu Kang.
A special transport service is provided to bring gamblers to the den.
The source also revealed that stakes at the den can be very high, with each bet ranging from a few hundred dollars to up to one thousand dollars. Some gamblers apparently had to borrow thousands of dollars from loan sharks.
When interviewed, the Bangladeshi workers who work nearby the forested area in Jurong said that they were not aware of the existence of the gambling den. However, they said they have seen some uncles and aunties loitering around the area.
