酷愛飛行的已婚律師昨午續領機師牌照後，即「技癢」獨自駕駛小型直升機，由石崗機場起飛，豈料飛行約一小時後，直升機在大埔林錦公路上空着火爆炸，更疑似解體分成數截，墜落嘉道理農場山坡，機身毀爛變廢鐵，拯救人員在附近發現機師的焦屍，並檢獲大量直升機零件。警方及相關部門目前正循機件故障及天氣等方向徹查。此外，嘉道理農場今日將停止開放。
曾選區議員 昨續機師牌
死者王輝雄（四十九歲）已婚，任職律師，十多年前曾參選區議員落敗。消息指，數年前王開始接觸直升機，自此喜歡在上空飛行之感，其後他更考獲機師牌照。據悉，王的牌照早前期滿，昨前往續牌，續牌後王滿心歡喜打算「過手癮」。於昨午四時四十分，王獨自駕駛由私人公司擁有、「Robinson R44」型號直升機，原定兩小時後折返石崗。
消息指，至昨午五時許，直升機飛至林錦公路近嘉道理農場暨植物園上空，期間疑失控。目擊者指，直升機在上空左搖右擺，未幾更冒煙及起火，只見直升機變成火球急速墜落。期間傳出多次爆炸聲，尾部及機身隨即分離疑解體，未幾直升機直跌在嘉道理農場寫字樓對開山坡，機頭冒出熊熊烈火，滾滾黑煙直竄半空，多名市民慌忙報警。
據悉，消防處接報後派遣一百卅九名消防及救援人員到場，消防處輔助醫療裝備車、事故安全隊及泡沫車亦到場救援，政府飛行服務隊直升機奉召在上空盤旋協助搜救。
現場檢大量直升機零件
消防派出兩隊煙帽隊及開動一條喉灌救，至約五時四十四分大致將火救熄，其後消防員繼續向直升機殘骸射水，以防死灰復燃，至傍晚六時卅五分，終將火徹底救熄。
肇事直升機扭曲變形，燒剩支架宛如廢鐵，救援人員在廿米外的山坡近路邊，發現一具男性燒焦屍體，檢驗後證實死者是王輝雄機師。其後，搜救人員再在附近山坡搜索，未有發現其他傷者，但檢獲大批相信是屬涉事直升機的零件、一個滅火筒及一隻疑屬於事主的黑色波鞋。
警方及消防處表示，初步相信出事地點是正確的飛行區域，目前將循直升機飛行運作、天氣、外來因素及機師身體狀況等方向調查事件，至於涉事直升機的機齡等，亦有待進一步了解。嘉道理農場暨植物園發言人表示，墜機位置為農場行政部辦公室後山，事發時已過了辦公及農場開放時間，未有職員或遊客在事件中受傷，而墜毁的直升機據悉屬於私人機構。
事件中一度發生小插曲。昨晚八時許，一名疑為死者親屬女子到場了解事件，當在場電視台記者欲採訪時，一輛私家車駛至，一名外籍男子落車，要求記者不要騷擾家屬，期間有人將記者的攝錄機拍落地，攝錄機損毀，警員趕往了解。

現場是嘉道理農場辦公室後方的山坡，直升機墜毀後有市民拍攝到大量濃煙升上半空，並傳出多下爆炸聲。墜毀的直升機完全燒焦，剩下一堆殘骸，消防射水降溫，部分懷疑是直升機的零件更飛到農場外面馬路，飛行服務隊直升機在上空盤旋。
直升機約四點九在石崗機場起飛，消防約四十五分鐘後接報墜毀，到場發現一名男機師死亡，意外原因有待調查，死者家屬到場與香港飛行總會主席到場了解情況。
涉事的是Robinson R44型號的四座輕型直升機，民航處表示直升機機齡、機師當時的飛行目的仍然有待調查。

意外前正在嘉道理農場上課，到下山時直擊意外的目擊者向東網稱，在該處不時會見到直升機橫越嘉道理農場，已聽慣聽熟直升機聲。然而，今午(19日)5時25分左右，突然聽到有不尋常的直升機聲：「突然間轟轟聲，停一停，又再轟轟聲，好短時間，我舉頭一望(直升機)就跌落黎，大概1秒左右。」
