The reason why I stopped going to my cardiologist was because I was looking for a long term cure to my problem. My cardiologists was ok when it comes to putting in stents /angioplasty & recommending medication like vastarel, amaryl, plavix, statins,..., but was lacking when it came to recommending details on diet, exercise, supplements. In other words a typical medical practioner in the Spore health system. Never mind the high cost.

If you go to Malaysia there are doctors who actualy do a better job & they are also cheaper :eek:

One of the most common drugs a doctor will prescribe for cholesterol are statins. Commonly brand names: Lipitor, Mevacor, Pravochol, Zocor, Lescol, Crestor, Altocor, Pravigard, Advicor, Baycor, Lovastatin, .. These drugs are big business and in Spore health care is all about money.

If you are taking these drugs, better read up & understand the side effects of this class of drugs

Why are Statins bad for you?


1) Interfere with liver function
2) Interfere with sex hormones
3) interfere with cells ability to fight cancer
4) create a CoQ10 deficiency
5) deplete vitamin E & A (causes cancer)
6) Decrease ability of insulin to metabolize sugars(promotes arteriosclerosis, diabetes,)
7) Increased risk of nerve damage(polyneuropathy)
8) Cause Amnesia
9) create a selenium deficiency

Most people are deficient in this vital ingredient. Its an essential & a cheap supplement. I take about 400 mg/day. The sources I've read recommend 800mg to 1000mg/day. It also helps with sleep. Had trouble with deep breathing until I increased my intake to 400mg

If the doctor presribes statins don't be afraid to be pro-active & challenge him by asking questions like if it is really necessary. Don't be like an idiot like me & just quietly accept it.

I know that the doctors in Spore are supposed to be the experts but you'd be surprised at how unknowledgeable these 'experts' really are. :)

For example when I brought the subject of CoQ10. The doctor didn't think I needed it even though he was presribing statins :eek:

I've been reading alot of the literature & C0Q10 is strongly recommended, even if you don't take statins. The japanese have been using it for decades. I take at least 100mg of the bioavailable form Q-absorb.

I take $250 to $350 worth of supplements a month but if I was still visiting a cardiologist I'd be spending $400 to $500 on doctor visits/medication & tests. By taking the supplements I hope to avoid other problems like cancer.

Spores very polluted, I know of at least 2 non-smokers who've died of lung cancer. Have an older relative who's been going to Australia for medical care & there are doctors there who are prescsribing supplements to detox & strengthen the body. All these years & he's still alive despite not having the heart operation the doctors in Spore recommended :rolleyes:

Taking the proper supplements is just part of the solution. Don't forget you need to change your diet. Avoid fried foods, red meats, trans fats,.sugars, salt.., eat your veggies & fruits.

And plenty of excercise too. Go for walks, park your car further away even if there is a parking space nearer. Go for excercise snacks, i.e. 5 minutes here, 5 minutes there... They all add up in the long run.;)

Spore is a humid place. If you are having trouble with the humidity
take walks in the mall, or plan your walks at night.

For those shy or easily bored by walking can condsider getting a Nintendo Wii & a balance board. Can try games like Wii fit, Active life Outdoor challenge, EA Active Personal Trainer, My Fitness Coach,..

The article recommends looking first at other natural solutions before considering statins. If you are already taking statins you should be looking at the other natural solutions to cut your dependance on statins.

This might include red yeast which the Pharma companies are refining to produce statins. Taking red yeast avoids many of the problems of taking statins. Red yeast is also available without a prescription.
Recommend a combination products such as Red yeast with Coq10.

Who wants to take statins forever :confused:

Thats the problem with medication, you need some other medication to counter the side effects.

The medicines you're taking probably only control the problem but does not fix the problem. One has to worry about the other hidden side effects.

Read the artical & use it as a guideline to weed yourself from statin. Taking fibre, garlic, red yeast, fish oil,.....is I think a better solution.

Our doctors here are NOT knowledgeable at all oh please. They only see mild cases of urban conditions like coughs, cold, fevers, flu, impotence and what not. :D:D:D:D:D:D

Lifes tough in Spore & its not going to get any easier.

I'm seeing many grey haired/balding teens out there & with MacD, KFC, hawker facing high costs, the diet of Sporeans have changed for the worse. To that add all the new man made pollutants.

I predict that the young generation will age faster than past generations :(
Already seeing people in their 20's dying during NS, reservist. The young are already suffering from "old persons" diseases.

As for commercial vitamins being too high a dosage, many studies are now finding that recommended dosages are "too low" I've yet to hear from anyone dying from vitamin overdose, so I don't think its a problem :)

Spore health system generates alot of $$$. Once you're caught up in the system they ask you to go for "regular" checkups. Add to that the medication & you're stuck with high medical costs.

Youngsters better pay attention because even the young are facing these health problems.

One should be consuming daily, 4 servings of fruit & 5 servings of veggies of 6 colors & not only light colored ones .

The majority of people are dying of cancer & heart & not liver/kidney failure. However if one is worried about taxing your body you can choose one of the "whole food" vitamins. These products contain natural food products with the necessary vitamins.
 
if you have heart problem, is mean that you are a non - smoker. LOL

Many doctors/books will tell you that you MUST give up smoking if you have a heart problem.

Smoking creates alot of free radicals which causes alot of damage that someone suffering from a heart problem can't afford.
