Boy injured by concrete that fell from ceiling of 45-year-old flat, HDB to carry out repairs
I asked my uncles and aunties to wear helmets when taking shower can?

Why else you think they carry out those Hdb SERS upgrades? The entire Tanglin Halt is getting enbloc! And those are the oldest Hdb flats

"With regular maintenance, spalling concrete in HDB flats, if it occurs, is usually minor and can easily be repaired," said the board.

Talk is cheap. How can I make sure that if my flat receives regular maintenance?
Any check list or checking regime? how often we have to ask HDB to come into our flat to check?

Flat owners who detect signs of spalling concrete are advised to carry out repairs early to prevent the problem from deteriorating further and affecting a larger area.

Flat owners can become engineer to check for cracks? are flat owners well trained ?
Do we need to attend HDB course in order to check our flat?

Wearing a helmet saves more lives than wearing a mask.

Old shop houses will not have such problem because the flooring is made of hard tropical wood such as Nyatoh and Teak wood

This was told to my by some old bird. apparently a lot of the older public works (a good eg is HDB) were not built to standards. Reason being that inspectors who signed off on it were "encouraged" to do so by "friendly influence". It is suggested that the contractors who were working on it were not happy enough with how rich they were and wanted to eke out even more money.

Sad to say, but it looks like you can take the Chinese out of China, but you can't take the China out of the Chinese. :frown:

We don own hdb ,it is not ours, it belong to government ,we r just renting from them for 99 yrs but problem is we pay using our whole life income for it but it is not ours n it cannot last for even 40 to 50 yrs ,wat makes u think it is livable till 99 yrs.And worse halfway through tell u have to move n start paying a over again by the owner next generation n worse the old flst don worth a cent. That why the papigs try to tell the whole sg that it is worthless after s few ten years. But many still glock for EC seems like it is going to worth less.

If you don't own the land, you own nothing. Don't believe the HDB nonsense about 'home ownership', especially depicted by pictures of smiling families at the construction sites of new HDB flats.
