This way, people will have a fair idea of where they are going and what could be the best stop to hop off at (especially useful for tourists and those who are new to Singapore). One list at the front and one at the rear should do the trick.

Why would someone get up the bus if he doesn't know where he is going?

Although one may have a general idea of the final destination (e.g. Boon Lay Bus Interchange), one may not have enough time to read or remember all the details in which the bus service plies. It's convenient to have it onboard just like in the mrt. That's why I think its a good idea. With announcements of record profits, a little bit of service improvement is long overdue. :p
