LG V10 will be launched on October 8 in Korea, price revealed

Officially unveiled by LG earlier today, the V10 is a unique high-end smartphone that comes with two displays, and a dual front-facing camera. While LG's press release announcing the V10 didn't reveal its exact launch date, The Korea Herald reports that the new handset will be available starting October 8, first in South Korea, and then in other markets around the world.

The V10 will cost around $680 in Korea. Since smartphone prices are usually higher there compared to other markets, the smartphone could cost around $600 in the US. Of course, we'll have to wait for a confirmation on this.

Running Android 5.1 Lollipop (almost certainly upgradeable to 6.0 Marshmallow), the LG V10 sports a main 5.7-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) display, and a secondary screen above it - a 2.1-inch one with 160 x 1040 pixels. The secondary display is an independent one that can show notifications, weather, date, battery information, and shortcuts to your favorite apps. Next to it, there's a dual 5 MP front-facing camera that can snap 120-degree selfies.

The V10 is powered by a six-core Snapdragon 808 processor, further featuring a fingerprint sensor, 16 MP rear camera, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of expandable storage space, and a 3000 mAh removal battery. The handset is built around a stainless steel frame, while its back and bottom are protected by what LG is calling "resilient but soft Dura Skin."

At 192 grams and 159.6 x 79.3 x 8.6 mm, the V10 is quite hefty and large. But perhaps we shouldn't complain about that, since Apple' 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus is just as heavy, and almost as big as LG's new handset. For a closer look at the new device (video included), check out our LG V10 hands-on.
