Hand-kissing cabby jailed

LAST August, cabby Francis Ngien Tai Ho grabbed the right arm of a 24-year-old passenger and kissed her hand when they arrived at her destination in Simei Street 1 in his Trans-Cab taxi. The woman complained to her boyfriend, a police officer, and was advised to make a police report.

Ngien, 52, was arrested four days later. He was jailed two weeks on Friday for outraging her modesty. A district court heard that Ngien had done the same thing to a 19-year-old passenger in 2002. He had also hugged her and kissed her cheek. He had then been fined $8,000.

SINGAPORE: A former cabbie has been jailed two weeks for molesting his 25-year-old female passenger.

Francis Ngien Tai Ho, who's 52, kissed the woman's hand when she reached her destination on August 10, last year.

She was asked by Ngien to move to the front seat, after the woman had complained that the rear seat was uncomfortable.

He then made advances towards her - asking her out for on a date, volunteering to pick her up when she worked late and reducing her taxi fare.

The woman felt uncomfortable and rejected them.

This is not the first time Ngien has been in trouble for such an offence.

Eight years ago, the former cabbie was fined $8,000 for molesting two female passengers on two separate occasions.

His license was revoked after those offences.

Ngien re-applied for a licence and got it on July 17 last year.
