Fish leave Patna hospital after spending night in ICU

Patna's Nalanda Medical College Hospital (NMCH) went through a big clean-up drive after the footage of fish swimming inside the hospital's intensive care unit (ICU) and general ward went viral on Sunday. The rainwater receded after the hospital cleaned and drained the water.
The heavy showers exposed the hospital's preparedness. The hospital was knee deep in water with insects and small fish visibly swimming in the rainwater.
The hospital, along with several other parts of the city, was flooded as the region experienced rains since the past few days.
Visuals from the hospital showed fish swimming merrily in the ICU. Apart from this, the general ward and the emergency ward were also flooded. All the wards are on the ground floor.

The hospital was flooded after a nearby drain breached and the water entered the hospital's premises. Locals say this has become a yearly phenomenon.

（中央社新德里30日綜合外電報導）印度官員今天表示，雨季降雨造成的交通事故，連日來在北方省（Uttar Pradesh）奪走至少80人性命，東北部比哈省（Bihar）一家醫院加護病房淹進髒水，甚至可見有魚游來游去。
洪水灌進比哈省那爛陀醫學院（Nalanda Medical College）附設醫院加護病房時，患者小心翼翼地把腳抬高，這個景象凸顯每年雨季對印度基礎設施的破壞。
醫院負責人普拉薩（Sitaram Prasad）告訴法新社：「豪雨使得一條水管阻塞，一樓一部分昨天（星期天）被淹，因此鬧水災。」
新德里電視台（NDTV）播出的畫面顯示，在比哈省首府巴特納（Patna）那爛陀醫學院附設醫院內，醫生涉水照顧躺在高架病床上的患者。部分患者被移出加護病房，員工忙著抽水，但有些醫療設備已進水。
路透社報導，今年迄今已有超過1500人因暴風雨、洪水和土石流喪命。大部分地方政府都只著重救災，早期預警系統薄弱且不注重預防工作。
印度每年6月至9月為雨季，經常造成成千上萬的建築和民宅淹水，帶來人員死傷和破壞。
自5月以來全國約有545人因雨災喪命，超過100萬人在某種程度上受到影響。
比哈省西邊北方省的災難管理官員庫瑪（Sanjay Kumar）表示，自26日豪雨侵襲區域內許多地方，80人因房屋或牆壁倒塌而喪命。
鄰近省份也處在警戒狀態，由於亞穆納河（River Yamuna）達警戒水位，當局疏散附近區域3000居民。
