Guineaboy Singapore Iconic Records

Why do people in Singapore like to use titles like ASSOC PROF or PROF?

I have never seen any professor in the US or UK use the title professor in their name the way PAP does it.

Some professor don't even use it even when they are at the university, they just sign off as whatever name, eg John Doe and not Prof John Doe.

In the UK, academic and professionals title are meaningless two-a-penny and of no status enhancement or recognition value, except for medical doctors and lawyers attaining QC status. What they want to add to their names is a Lord or a Sir.
