I don't know everything, but that I happen to know. I'm always more interested in words than pictures. The words are 光我舜胄。If any Chinese don't know how to read it, I can understand the lag in modern Chinese teaching. If still don't understand after shown in font characters on top of calligraphy, then I don't know what to say. :(

光我 means to bring glory
舜胄 = 舜帝之胄. 舜帝is a legendary emperor in Chinese history. 胄 is helmet, its part of protective gear to wear for war.
tan clan believe they are off spring of 舜帝. so u will see in those tan clan house address themselves as 舜胄.
光我舜胄=bring glory to the tan clan.

I'm sorry if I'm mistaken, but my take is there's no way to verify lineage up to Shun era. Tan or Chen or Chan or Ting or Ding, started only between Shang and Zhou dynasty era according to officially verifiable records. My lineage beginning as recorded, started with a Tang dynasty empress dowager conferment of royal marriage. Later for political reasons, they were sent down south and we became part of Teochew all the way further down south to Singapore.
