中国台湾网8月25日讯 据台湾“中时电子报”报道， 蔡英文南下嘉义县视察灾情，原本是搭云豹装甲车进入尚在淹水的布袋镇永安里勘灾，但沿途有民众高喊“下来走”“走一次就知道”，装甲车行进到一半，还有灾民拉起封锁线，不让装甲车前进，“还呛再开进来就把我辗过去”，要蔡英文下车体会灾民痛苦，蔡英文只好下车“撩水”，也进入几户人家了解受灾和复原状况，许多民众大吐苦水，要蔡英文往积水更深的地方去，更有民众向她陈情，指抽水机100台只有50台能运作，希望县府加快协助动作。
有居民听到蔡英文要来，早早就聚集在现场，呛他们就是要蔡英文“下来走走看”，看看人民受苦的情况，抱怨很多地方的水都退了，“我们住的地方还在淹”，什么事都没办法做，连厕所都办法上，还比着自己的湿透的短裤，“看水淹到哪里，这就是证据”。
