Despite receiving numerous brickbats from netizens for his feeble attempts to create discord within the opposition camp by mooting the possibility of the National Solidarity Party (NSP) sending its star candidate Nicole Seah to contest in Hougang by-election which eventually forced Nicole to issue a public statement denying she would do so, beleaguered former WP and NSP leader Goh Meng Seng continues to take potshots at the Workers Party on his personal blog.
In his latest post written yesterday, Mr Goh proposes that the PAP send MediaCorp celebrity Tay Ping Hui who was applauded by many netizens lately for speaking out against NUS PRC scholar Sun Xu to contest in Hougang.
“Since this is the battle of personal branding, if PAP is smart enough, it may send TV celebrity to contest. Don’t underestimate the impact of this celebrity effect, it could well become PAP’s the most effective weapon! TV celebrity Tay Ping Hui is a well known PAP member and he has all along shown vast interests in contesting in elections.”
He took a swipe at WP’s likely candidate in Hougang, Png Eng Huat, saying that he would be totally ‘marginalized’ if he contests against Nicole Seah and Tay Ping Hui:
“If PAP send him to contest, this by-election would be very interesting to watch. Imagine, Nicole Seah, Tay Ping Hui and Png Eng Huat…. I believe in the end, Png Eng Huat will be totally marginalized while the by-election turns into the show down between the TV celebrity and the political rising star!”
In an interview with a Chinese tabloid two days ago, NSP Secretary-General Hazel Poa revealed that Mr Goh is no longer a NSP member, meaning that he is making the comments in his personal capacity as the ‘resident commentator’ of the Sammyboy Forum (not the porn site)
Meanwhile, angry and irate netizens continue to lampoon Mr Goh in cyberspace with many condemning him as a ‘PAP stooge’ out to destroy the Workers Party.

Sad it comes to this. After he fails to get NSP most popular candidate to stand in Hougang BE, he's trying to get PAP most popular candidate to stand.

GMS has betrayed his original ideals of helping to advance the opposition movement in Singapore and finding a good alternative to the PAP. He has been consumed by short term hatred, jealousy, vindictiveness, and allowed his ego to cloud his reasoning. His motives have all changed now, and ideals all abandoned.

The writing is on the wall a long time ago that politically GMS is finished. The problem is that only he does not realise it. It is human nature especially in his case being very stubborn and unable to accept the opinions of others,

I don't think so. Even Dr Chee may make a come back and contest in an election. Don't think the younger and more media savvy voters will even consider Dr Chee past as a liability.
The issue with GMS is that he keeps hitting WP and the WP centric crowd here will start yelling and condemned him that he is political finished. It's just here.
me, for one, consider Dr Chee's past as a liability and me find it hard to vote for him. can't forget and hard to forgive him for what he had done to CST.
It's not GMS hitting WP that is the issue, it's his lack of objectivity, poor judgement on what are decent and appropriate behaviors, non-existing analytical skills (yet wanting to be a political analyst, observer, etc) and in general no clarity of thoughts, shooting off his mouth, self righteous, etc.
I'm not sure GMS political career is finished. Hard to say in politics. But at this moment, I sense that he wants to finish his political career. All by himself! At least I think he wants to exit partisan politics. With his blog comments, exposure to MSM, etc, he seems driven to step on the feet of everyone. He's committing political suicide.

When that happens and you will see Youtube being filled with snippets of his attempt to oust Mr. Chiam See Tong from Parliament, running after PM Goh Chok Tong shouting "where is our $10b" (when the $10b was not even disbursed) etc. Don't worry, the MONGREL who bit his masters' hands LOUDHAILER chee soon juan will be finished politically if he ever stands for election again.
I actually agree with Sadist (gee!) that it's very likely CSJ will make a comeback. SDP seems to have mellowed lately and CSJ himself showed signs of softening his tough and confrontational style of the past. Remember he recently showed some journalists his spartan home, two children and wife? Think on Yahoo! Whether that was orchestrated, I don't know. But I think he's changing his persona.
Don't really know much of the saga between him and CST. But you kind of expect these things in politics, survival of the fittest. I admire CST a lot for his dedication to opposition politics, and serving the people. But I think he's not ruthless enough in the political world. He looks like a very disorganized person, with few ideas. In short, intellectually he's no match for CSJ. And I'm disappointed that SPP is now run by his wife. Just not right to pass it around within the family. Besides, I don't think Lina Chiam is up to the mark in the first place.
Cut a long story short, I'm not sure CST's departure from SDP is purely CSJ's fault.

Definitely agree. But 一日为师，终生为父 is hardly practised in the world of politics. If you look at Chinese history, fathers kill sons, sons kill fathers, brothers kill each others. Not for the faint hearted.
