whatever mankind does is less than 0.69% or pales in comparison to what the sun and earth's magnetic core of molten metal can do. the earth's core goes through polarity flips in geologic time and cycles, and when it does the magnetic field emanated weakens and solar flares and rays from the sun can wreak havoc on the planet. when the flip is completed and poles stabilize the magnetic field will reach equilibrium and strengthen again, preventing solar flares and rays from burning the thin atmosphere. mass extinction events can happen during those brief geologic time lasting tens of thousands to millions of years. such events have happened several times before. the sun's behavior is even greater than earth's molten core. it can have long periods of lower solar activity and or short bursts of solar explosiveness. god help us all if short highly active solar bursts coincide with a weakened planetary magnetic field due to a polarity shift.
