GK was officially named as AG designate to takeover from the then retiring AG. During that time his wife was developing a resort on Bintan on a small scale. GK was seeking investors to pump in money and sought a number of people including Ng Ser Miang. Though no money was handed over he was charged for attempted cheating on the basis that other investors/partners had already committed when it was not the case. In the business world this is quite common and I have not seen prosecution or after this incident. GK also fucked up when he took a vehicle loan from the Govt and used the vehicle in an inappropriate manner.

It is believed that it was the then AG Tan Boon Teik has referred complaints from Indonesian businessmen that he was asking them for money for his resort that led to the investigation.

The whole case is shrouded in mystery and I suspect that GK has no clue or is not prepared to disclose. To his close friends he keeps mentioning about someone he upset. Whatever it is people were surprised that he pleaded guilty to a filmsy case.

Lawrence and CPIB are also clueless on why this even took place and I am sure that CPIB know that they were doing someone's else's dirty work. Lawrence Ang never made AG even though he was so excited about screwing GK.

If there is anyone to blame it has to be his wife. She thinks she was some sort of superb chef and thought that she could run a resort. Sadly GK was in love with another lady and that flame I understand is still on.

GK was super powerful when he was DCAD. I recall even then CP also gave him face. He was destined for higher office. Maybe AG or SG or even a high court judge.

His offence doesn't appear so serious as to charge him in court. Many others were told to resign or retire for more serious offences. Though he claimed it wasn't political, I have my doubts.

When Francis Seow was Solicitor-General, there a DPP called Issac Paul Retnam serving under him. One day an Asst Commissioner enter IPR's office. He demanded that the AC salute him. The matter was brought to FS. FS said that all policeman must salute a DPP if the DPP so requires.

I understand the practice has since stopped.

U are right, this is the real reason that GK got whacked. Wee CY is a billionaire, but a petty piece of shit. He is so rich and powerful, but if you wrong him, he will puill out all the stops to get you. WCY and Alan had a falling out. And imagine WCY was so petty that he called Alan's house at all times of the night to harass him, like a loan shark who is owed money. WCY was stupid in that he made the calls from his own house. Alan used his connections to traced the calls and was surprised find out that they originated from WCY's house. He went to the police to press charges and guess who got the case, GK. Since this was a failry open and shut case, GK proceeded with and was going to charge WCY.

WCY got wind of this investigation on him, and contacted his golfing buddy Lee Con YOu to fix things. Next thing you know, GK and Alan are going to jail on trumped up charges. I believe at this time, GK's godfather Devan already on his way out, and hence he lost his protectiion. This is what singapore is. There is a different rule for MIW and their cronies. There is no rule of law for peasants and a bullet proof law for the priveleged. In my opinion, GK might as well not write this book, as he is so scared to reveal the real skeletons in the closet.
