Girl's scream leads to arrest of peeping tom

SINGAPORE - An alleged peeping tom, who is believed to have peeped at a 19-year-old girl while she was using the toilet, is facing charges for outraging her modesty and criminal trespassing.
The man, 25, is believed to have insulted the modesty of the teenager at a mall in Clementi Ave 5 on December 19.
She was in the women's toilet when she heard someone entering another cubicle next to hers.
Before leaving the cubicle, she happened to look up and it was then that she saw the suspect looking at her. She screamed for help and immediately rushed out of the cubicle.
By this time, the suspect had started to flee from the female toilet.
While she gave chase, her shout for help attracted the attention of the Security Officer, Mr Vennu Nair, and an off-duty officer, Sergeant Muhamad Nor Sarhan, from Jurong East Neighourhood Police Centre.
The suspect was apprehended after a short chase along Clementi Avenue 5.
He will be charged in Court on Friday criminal trespassing and insulting the modesty of a woman.
The first charge carries a maximum punishment of 3 months in jail, or a fine or both.
The second charge of insulting a woman's modesty is punishable with a maximum jail term of one year, or a fine or both.
