An 11-year-old girl remains in critical condition after being run over twice - once by a hit-and-run driver and moments later by a
police car - at an intersection in Yichuan county of Luoyang, Central China's Henan Province Tuesday.
The driver of the police car and the driver who fled the scene have been arrested.
A worker at the intensive care unit of the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Science and Technology in Luoyang, said
the girl, surnamed Su, underwent surgery but remains weak.
"She is really fragile and is on a ventilator," the worker said, adding that a brain surgeon surnamed Lu performed the surgery,
indicating the girl suffered brain injuries. Lu refused to comment.
The girl was first hit by a black car that sped away. Less than two minutes later, a police car ran over her causing additional injuries,
according to the local government .
Wang Diwei, a police officer with the county's public security bureau, said the driver of the hit-and-run car, Gu Shuxian 35, has been
arrested and a police officer surnamed Yang is in custody, reported dahe.con.
"A third-party agency was entrusted with the case," as it involved a local police officer, Wang said.
