I heard on a radio ad that Audi is going to have a german engineer visiting Spore and any audi owners can make an appointment to have their cars examined by this engineer.

Sometimes I also hear about Japanese engineers visiting Spore.

Am curious to know if these foreign experts are necessary when we have so many talented & qualified Sporeans:confused:

Has anyone had their cars looked at by these visiting engineers & what has been your experience:confused:

From my own experiences they know their cars inside out

I one time had this visiting foreign expert doctor examined someone dear to me, in the end he also didn't know what's wrong

I know that there are many so "Foreign Talents" in Spore but you can probably cheaper doctors in Malaysia & Thailand

However these engineers are brand specific specialists, trained to service their company products. Curious to know if they are better than our local mechanics  Many of the local service personnel are sent to Japan etc for training. So any advantage to visiting these guest engineers

German engineers are generally

1. Meticulous
2. Very responsible
3. Hardworking
4. Highly trained than our singaporean counterparts

they have to undergo several years of apprenticeship before even reaching the title of a meister.

Our Miws only know how to give pep talks to singaporeans about training and retrainings but nobody knows or how to implement it.

In sgp any ah bengs can become a car mechanic!

But German car mechanics can earn more than degree holders!

I think you can say the same for Sporeans workers IF companies are willing to invest in their employees. Good mechanics are hard to find, with their skills they can easily emigrate to places in Canada

For example there's a good classic mini minor servicing workshop in Spore. Business is run by someone who has a passion for minis.

If you're driving a stock car, it wouldn't make any difference.

Most Audis in Singapore are stock if not for some pretty mild modifications - MTM stuffs included. The visiting engineer wouldn't be of much help especially if he's not going to be speaking with the individual owners.

The difference only comes when you're pushing the engine to it's engineering limits then will these people from the factory come in handy.

I have worked with German engineers before. They are as described by the bros here - GOOD. In any case, the western countries place a lot of importance in craftmanship and skills we deemed low-class here. A good auto mechanic or a skilled plumber can earn pretty good money in Europe. In the first place, the service they provide you are very professional and not any-o-how.

Over in most European countries, it is done base on passion while over here, it's done for a living.

In Europe, they have the respect the need to take pride in what they do. Over here, there's nothing wrong with being a mechanic or plumber, but would you want to be one by choice?
