Gelek king Dollah Kassim heart seizure, COME ON SIR, FIGHT BACK!

I remember the Kallang Roar. Where every Singaporean was tuned to RTS and watched the matches. They were our heros. Local boys and we cried when they lost and cheered when they won.

In fact we still remember that moment 30 years later!. Why were we kicked out of the Malaysia Cup? What happened to FAS of old. I rememeber after that they brought in a bunch of FT and I lost interest.

Can we join Malaysia Cup again?

nice photo.
the small bird is like the opposition of singapore, keep hitting the head of PAP.
PAP want to go on making money squeezing singapore.
But small bird are not afraid. attacking it, but it is so tiny.

do you have a high resolution one? better than the yahoo one.

Photographer Pat Gaines, 41, captured the instant moments at Bonny Lake park in Colorado.
Kingbirds tend to defend their breeding territories aggressively, often chasing away much larger birds.

I remembered the Kallang Roar too. I must say i do not know much abt the 70s or 80s. But i did read on the news articles during the 2 decades. I only start watching the Lions in the 90s. I was there when our Lions last won the Malaysia Cup in shah alam stadium. During that season, my frn n I manage to catch all our home matches at Kallang. Man!! I miss the old days.

Doctors said on Wednesday the 60-year-old had 'advanced' coronary heart disease, a condition that was previously undetected.

TTSH cardiologist Dr Dinesh Nair, who is looking after Dollah, confirmed that the ex-footballer had suffered brain injury, due to the lack of oxygen to his brain immediately after the collapse.

Medical experts say the next two days will be critical for Dollah, who is a games analyst with Singapore Pools.

"Undetected" :eek:

This is a national hero and yet he can't even afford decent preventive medical care. Unlike LKY who was hospitalised as a precaution when he had a heart flutter.

Dollah Kassim has been in a coma since he collapsed at the Jalan Besar stadium in October 2009.

S$70,000 raised so far for Dollah Kassim's medical bills
By Ian de Cotta, Evelyn Choo, 19 January

SINGAPORE: The Football Association of Singapore is organising a charity shield match to raise funds for Dollah Kassim. To date, sponsors and club chairmen have chipped in about S$70,000.
Dollah Kassim has been in a coma since he collapsed at the Jalan Besar stadium in October 2009.
His family brought him home three weeks ago after doctors said they do not expect him to recover from his coma.
Faridah Syed Anwar, wife of Dollah Kassim, said: "It's not the same. Everything is different. Been very busy looking after him. I think there is no more life for me. Just Dollah."
Posters in his home are a reminder of the ex-national footballer's glory days when he was one of Singapore's star strikers in the 1970s.
This Thursday, the football association hopes to rally local fans to this year's S.League Charity Shield where the Singapore Armed Forces Football Club will play against AIK Solna from Sweden.
All proceeds will help Dollah's family in handling hefty medical bills incurred since October.
Dollah's wife added: "I think everybody loves Dollah. I hope they will support this match because it is for Dollah."

DOLLAH Kassim had dreams of opening a football academy.
'It is in the plans. He has always dreamt of opening a football school under his name,' Faridah Syed Anwar, the wife of the former Singapore international, said on Wednesday.
'Whatever money we get from the public, I will try to put it in a fund. No words can express how I feel for the support we have received.'
Support has poured in for the 'Gelek King' since the 60-year-old suffered a heart attack during a veterans' game at the Sultan of Selangor's Cup in October, leaving him in a coma.
At the Choa Chu Kang Stadium this evening, S-League champions Singapore Armed Forces FC will play Swedish League champions AIK Solna in the Charity Shield. All proceeds from the traditional curtain-raiser to the S-League season will be donated to Dollah's family.
His employer Singapore Pools and Perkamus (the association of Malay singers, composers and professional musicians) have also stepped in to offer financial assistance to the family.

These people think they are still strong and fit as though they are in their twenties. I am about same age as Quah Kim Song. I was a sportsman myself, and dare say I am more fitter and stronger than them when they are in their prime. Right now I cant even run and swim like I was before.

Can you do 'Bedminton"???

That's Michael Jackson song. I think that you mean the Liverpool anthem "You'll Never Walk Again".

you mean -- you never walk alone

oh yes, i meant that

but i witness why singapore kick out of malaysia cup

i went to KL to watch that final, and singapore won, and later they kick us out.

so sad, maybe they forgave us and we can go back to malaysia cup and kallang roar again.

Mokhtar died of muscle wasting disease. He was one of the best I have seen.

Yeah, it was very sad. I still remember the story. The selangor goalie Arumugam (spiderman) died in a motorbike accident. At his funeral, Mokhtar was there. But at that time he was already suffering from ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). The chairman of the FAM and other football officials (also at the funeral) noticed his condition. They immediately seek medical help for him but it was too late, he died not too long later at 37 years of age. This kind wa sthe scourge of Singapore defences. I recall getting scared whenever he had the ball and venture into the S'pore penalty area. He had speed, power and was very hard to knock of the ball.

And they will charter an entire 747, outfit it with a medical suite and fly the shriveled old cunt back from London. But for all former heroes, nothing.

Even if the Malaysian forgive & forget what do you think will happen when they start dealing with our scholar bureacrats

Anyway I don't think the Malaysian would be interested in playing against the Spore rojak team which has so many foreigner.

LKY is an elite & the elites expect the best .

Its not like they can't afford to look after our old national sportsman. Just look at all the $$$$ going to support & groom the foreign sportsmen from China & Indonesia. When they win medals they are further rewarded with even more $$$,$$$.

When Dollah won all those matches what did ge receive?

Its quite shameful & not surprising that Sporeans are avoiding sports
