The Malaysian Indian security guards at my condo dare not be rude or unreasonable to residents, fearing that we will complain to their company. As such, they will exert their authority over PHV/cab drivers, deliverymen, electricians, plumbers, personal trainers etc. There have been lots of complaints by such service providers entering my condo.

The security at the older condos back in the day was very relaxed. Anyone could walk in without being questioned or needing to register. I did that all the time, going to a friend's condo after school to study and play.

The MOE schools of today also have those prison-style metal turnstile gates.

What happened to cause the change over the years? 9/11 terrror attacks? Some crimes? A new KPI for the ruling class?

ACS I has blocked off the parking lots below the hostel, possibly fearing car bombs. As a result, parents are no longer able to wait for our children, but form a queue from the entrance to the pick-up point. Students who are late will lead to parents waiting in their cars at the roundabout with no possibility of overtaking on that single lane, causing a massive jam to the main road.
