Based on the MOH Situation Report as at 3 June, there are 1,696 confirmed community cases, which now includes work permit holders not residing in dormitories, residents and work pass holders. Out of these, there are 609 cases which remain unlinked. :cautious:
Naturally, the timeline on the 609 unlinked cases would be important.

What I found interesting from the recent mass testing done on the preschool sector is that from 35k tested, 14 were found to test positive, not sure on the full details though like whether asymptomatic, linked or unlinked.

Going forward as we reopen wider, contact tracing and testing together with good health safety practices shall hopefully keep this virus properly contained until a vaccine or at least a fast efficient cheap mass test kit becomes available.

Out of the 609 unlinked cases, 580 were before 21 May, which means 29 were after 21 May.

The following is the MOH statement on pre-school testing:

"We had previously informed that of the preschool staff who have been proactively screened so far, 14 had tested positive using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Of these, 12 were likely to be past infections, based on epidemiological investigations, including their positive serological test results [1]. One more serological test has come back positive today, indicating a likely past infection. In all, more than 39,000 preschool staff [2] have been tested, and only one case was likely to be a current infection at the point of screening, as announced on 29 May."

The reports from the past few weeks indicates that most were unlinked and asymptomatic, which again begs the question whether any of these pre-school teachers have maids.

Good point.

But either way, you would think the maids infectious period should have wrapped up after the 2 months lockdown. Eg asymptotic maid infects household, whole household infected, but no further spread or very little spread if any because of lockdown.

Mitigation during circuit breaker period is limiting widespread community spread among strangers. But close contacts are still spreading to one another. And it is very possible that many of these resident confirmed cases are getting the virus from asymptomatic close contacts or symptomatic close contacts supressing/hiding their symptoms or not being truthful during contact tracing, hence their cases remain unlinked. :cautious:

Yes, a possibility no doubt.

But once again if it's close contacts, the 2 months lockdown should be enough to contain the virus infection, provided the households complied with the requisite measures.

For 3 June, out of the 3 work permit holders and 3 work pass holders, 5 are male Indians, and 1 is a female from PRC. So no maids. All 6 are linked to current confirmed cases. :coffee:

For 4 June, out of the 7 work permit holders and 6 work pass holders, all 13 are male Indians and linked to current confirmed cases. This is the MOH statement on these cases:

b) Cases in the community: 15 (2 Permanent Residents, 6 Work Pass holders, 7 Work Permit holders)

All 15 cases were close contacts of earlier confirmed cases, and had already been placed on quarantine. They are all asymptomatic, but we had swabbed them to confirm and verify their status during quarantine. Besides the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, we also conducted serological tests to determine if these are current or past infections.1

Of the 15 cases, 13 (including 1 Permanent Resident) reside in a shophouse at Veerasamy Road with an earlier confirmed case (Case 33273). Amongst them, 3 have positive serological test results, which is indicative of past infections. 8 serological tests have come back negative, and 2 results are pending.

The remaining Work Pass holder was a housemate of an earlier confirmed case (Case 33599) at Bendemeer Road, and has been quarantined at a government quarantine facility since 30 May. His serological test has come back positive, which is indicative of a past infection.

The remaining Permanent Resident case is a household contact of previously confirmed cases (Cases 21538 and 29273), and has been placed on quarantine since 7 May. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing to determine if this is a past infection.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has increased, from an average of 5 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 6 per day in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has remained stable at an average of 2 per day in the past two weeks. We will continue to closely monitor these numbers, as well as the cases detected through our surveillance programme.

Everyday we continue to see increase in number of this group. Are they maids?
