Read some local docs comments in today's ST on the possible rise of infections P2 onwards.

Looks like the possibility of public members taking avoidance measures to get tested because of the drastic restrictive consequences of being tested positive is a worrying trend. Especially if these public members act irresponsibly by going out instead of practicing self isolation.

Difficult for the government to tackle this issue.

After they clear the dorm foreign workers which seems to be neverending,, they will probably do surveillance testing on certain groups. Currently, they are already surveillance testing nursing home staff, pre school staff, workers performing essential services, workers in covid 19 frontlines, people having contact with dorms, etc. Whcih is why there are so many asymptomatic cases confirmed recently. The worrying part is that of the 10 community cases on 1 July, there are also 5 unlinked symptomatic Singaporean cases. :cautious:

Actually if the patient is considered asymptomatic then he/she would not be avoiding testing for covid-19 because they would not know that they had contracted the virus in the first place.

Those avoiding testing already show up symptoms albeit not requiring hospitalisation, so rather suppress getting test because of the drastic restrictive consequences. This group is problematic. Common trait in other countries as well because people don't want to get tied down by the authorities.

Agree that there are many people surpressing their symptoms to avoid testing and all the restrictions that come with confirmation. Another reason is that they don't want to reveal their close contacts, possibly because they are illicit or engaged in illegal activities. There could be citizens and residents among these, but also foreign workers,....................... including maids.
