Defamation Case
Hello everyone, thank you for your support and well-wishes. It has been an arduous two weeks. I am doing well so far.
Last Sunday, the Singapore prime minister issued a letter of demand to me for defamation. I have thus far acceded to the requests of the prime minister to remove several of the articles that I had written and a video that I made. I have also offered the Prime Minister my apology.
The Prime Minister, through his lawyers, has rejected my offer of damages in the amount of S$5000.00.
The case will now go before the courts. The case will now essentially focus on a hearing involving assessment of damages since I have already apologised. It will ultimately involve cross-examination of the Prime Minister on the quantum of damages.
Raising Funds
My lawyer, M Ravi, will be leading a team in preparation for the hearing. As most of you know, he champions many Human Rights causes, most of which he undertakes without charge. However, he only has a small practice with finite resources. In view of the magnitude of the matter, the amount of resources required and the likelihood that it will last almost a year, I need to raise the legal fees required.
I expect the legal fees would amount to at least $70,000 and this would include:
• Filing fees
• Research
• Lawyer’s fees

If you would like to help me with this, you can make a deposit to the following accounts:

  • POSB Savings Account Number: 130-23068-7 Name: Ngerng Yi Ling
Any amount will be much appreciated.
The actual amount of damages, which is separate from the legal fees I am trying to raise, will only be known after the court case is over.
Onward, Singapore
I am very grateful to the many Singaporeans who have shown your support during the period, and the words of encouragement from you and your families. Several Singaporeans have written to me and thanked me for standing up and speaking up. Please know that I very much appreciate your being here.
I will continue to stay strong and do what I can. This has been a challenging episode but with your support, we will get through with this.
I have done my best to this point, and will continue doing so. Thank you for being here.
Let’s be the change we wish to see.
Thank you.

Note: Roy will be providing regular updates on the amount received so far and we will help to also publish this information here in the interest of transparency.

speaking from personal experice $70000 seems like a very low estimate.....

I will never give money to gay people

This was what LHL and his lawyers gambled on. They know they need to make an example of the discontent that is festering in Singapore society but yet don't want to anyhow whack some random small fry. Singapore is still a conservative society and so they thought if they whacked Roy, there wouldn't be much support anyway.

They are not stupid, this is a strategic move. Roy Ngerng gave them that opening.

People these days have used crowdfunding for a lot of things, thanks to the Internet.

Kickstarter is one of those platforms.

If you do not want to donate, move the fuck on and keep your scorn to yourself.

I have been whinging this CPF withdrawal issue since 1992 and was fedup with this moving goal post.

The time has arrived. I'll put in $100.

The feeling is not towards, any loose mouth cannons or Idiots like ROY...but people are fed up, I will donate to his OCBC Account....I still consider him an Idiot.....but if we do not have idiots like him, who is willing to put his head out to be chopped, when many of us dare not, we will be 'strangled' & 'choked' to death by a nanny government....I do not support his accusation against Lee Hsien Loong, but will support that fight against the system, that hold hostage to my money...:(

Fair point halsey.

I have donated....not to that Roy Being an IDIOT...but for the cause of "CPF is my Money"....if this can generate a huge support for this cause, whether the amount is small or large....should be able to send signals to those people...that the world is s different place. We make the difference.

and since 1992, you just KPKB behind the PC and post in this forum???? i mean like for more than 20 years? what a coward low life sinkie loser.

The issue is not whether he is an idiot, or whether he is right. The issue is are Singaporeans willing to be used at anytime by pinkie to set an example? Are we so spineless, so useless that we even allow this?

Yeah, power to the people. If donation is substantial, it is a signal to the pappies that there are more people supporting pappies' critics and sinkies are no longer fence sitters.

If Roy didn't do it, how would this issue seen the daylight?

Roy is not a politician ...he is just a commoner who wants to contribute to a better country.

Please cut him lots of slack. He is not paid millions or even a cent to do something for this country.
