STOMPer Ester says this fake monk she saw outside Mustafa Centre at about 10.30pm on June 2 took her photos when he realised that she had snapped pictures of him.
Said the STOMPer:
"I saw this fake monk outside Mustafa Centre at 10.30pm on Tuesday, June 2, 2009.
"I noticed that it was so late at night and he was talking on his handphone.
"Shouldn't a real monk be in the temple at night instead of roaming the streets?
"When I took his pictures, at first he started to turn his head and avoided facing me.
"I also overheard him calling his friend, saying that he had been followed.
"Weird, real monk wouldn't have been scared of being followed, because a real monk would not be guilty of anything and would not have anything to hide.
"Later he kept walking away from me, and to my surprise, he took out his handphone and took my pictures.
"Hehehe, maybe he did that to deter me from taking more of his pictures or perhaps he wanted my photos to warn the other fake monks to avoid me.
"I followed him, still taking his photos. He tried getting a taxi but the taxi queue was very long so he walked towards the MRT station.
"I continued to follow him, and after we crossed the main road, he turned and shouted at me 'Why you taking my pictures, why, why?'
"I screamed back at him, 'Why can't I take your pictures, are you a fake monk or what? What are you doing here at this hour? Are you a fake monk? If you are real, why are you scared of me taking your pictures?'
"Then a Caucasian who overheard us shouted at the fake monk, 'Hi fake monk, we are going to take your pictures' and it sent the poor fake monk running away."
