Work on the next new general hospital, to be built in the north, has already started, Health Minister Gan Kim Yong announced at the ground-breaking ceremony for the Sengkang hospitals this morning.

That northern hospital is one of four that will be built between 2020 and 2030. There will also be more community hospitals and nursing homes, he said.

The hospital complex at Sengkang will comprise an 800-bed general hospital, a 400-bed community hospital, and another 200 "swing beds" which could be used by either hospital.

The Sengkang hospital's current chief executive officer, Professor Christopher Cheng, said the hospital complex will allow another 200 beds to be added if the need arises, without incuring further construction costs.

Another great effort by our world class government to serve the people of Singapore! Majulah Singapura!!!

That is good news. I have been waiting for Jurong hospital to be completed since first time heard it in 1997 or so.

Good news?

Such can build a lot of fancy looking, high class hospital.

But can the average Sinkie dare to use it? Hahahaha

Yes this is wonderful news, we can see a new hospital in Sengkang, worst to worst, in 17 years time. Apparently hospitals are harder to build than underground train tracks, that's why they take longer.

The new Khoo Teck Puat Hospital is flooded. We need more hospitals and more doctors and nurses. Singapore is right on track. Singapore voted in the Right Government.

Long time overdue. Go to the A&E in your public hospitals and look at the long queues. What's taking them so long?

Cheers!

This is a catch up effort due to yrs of u under investment just like our transport system:

In other news, expect to have a 7 or 8 or 9 million population soon. ;)

You don't invest in additional infrastructure without expecting tangible returns on investment. Especially in Singapore.

Singhealth and NHG etc need their gravy train to keep moving.

Flooded becos your beloved Master stuff the fucking little island with hordes of FT.

Then they employ half bake hospital staff from those manning the counter to the specialists with FTs.

But they charge high prices for their services so much so that with most Sinkie salaries stagnanted for donkey years these Sinkie find it hard to pay such prices now.

I hope you taste your own bitter medicine when your time comes. LoL

unless you post in a serious and proper manner, all your words will fall flat.

it is a waste of space and time ...and energy to read your nonsense.

do not curse me because the curse will only fall flat on your face. i have been in and out of hospital and i know just too well. i sincerely and honestly hope
you do not have to undergo this experience of mine. take care and thank you.

It is always easy to talk about healthcare. But it is one of the most difficult system to manage. It is also politically sensitive, economically fragile and emotionally labile. Unless you know the system very well, the economics of it, you should not just make empty statements. Thank you.
