Former NCMP Yee Jenn Jong 余振忠 shares his thoughts over the sudden cancellation of his booking by the National Library Board.
The book launch of "Non-constituency Members of Parliament: What’s Next for the Scheme?", co-authored by Yee and Loke Hoe Yeong, was supposed to be held at the Central Library on 19 July.
However, the organisers were informed a month before the event that the application was cancelled after NLB reviewed the manuscript. Consequently, the book launch had to be held at an alternative location a day earlier.
He said, "We embarked on this journey to capture as much as different voices as possible because we, we believe that, as we develop, we should have this, ability to discuss and debate, even if our views are, different."
Yee added, "And I thought that, you know, a library would be the best place for that because it's a place of knowledge and discussion as we want to evolve the way Singapore should progress"
