Former Matland PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has kicked the bucket at 85

I remember once seeing a pamphlet with his photo welcoming guests. A hotel in Cameron Highlands.

I remember that very well because days later, Benazir Bhutto was assassinated. I saw it on the hotel tv news.

JB boomed like nuts during badawi period. Najib destroyed it.

Pak Lah has been kind to SG. Mahathir insisted on a crooked bridge at Johor side of the Causeway but Pak Lah did not agree (hearsay Mahathir oredy collected the kickback).

Msia became much less hostile to SG when Pak Lah became PM, unlike the days when Mahathir was the PM.

Pak Lah era was very good for sg and sinkies in general but he undid many of Mathatter mega projects so he had to go
He cancelled two madhatter project which until today inconvenience those living in JB and sinkie.
The ktm rail electrification and double tracking. And the crooked bridge.
The rail double tracking eventually restarted by Najib and will be ready this year. Maybe August. 3.5 hours JB to KL.

PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was never afraid to call a spade a spade. He told the Malays that they had depended on crutches for so long that most of them needed wheelchairs because of govt handouts. However, he knew deep down inside that the Malays lacked the intelligence and drive to compete with the Chinese on a level-playing field, so he lacked the will to follow through on meritocracy for all Malaysians.

He got the biggest mandate ever in 2004. He initially reformed the country But after first wife died, and he married his ex sister in law, he lost his way and started sleeping in Meetings and parliamentary sessions.
Najib offered him a huge tract of land in KL if he resign as severance plus maybe some monetary compensation. The country rolled back to the Dr m era economy and policies of cronyism and monopolies.

He was too soft in his governance and let the others stepped over his head.

Eventually it was Dr m himself who rallied umno into a revolt.
The guy who stepped in badawi's head was none other than his son in law, khairy. Who became wealthy by marrying the daughter and was umno youth chief.

Pinky attended the funeral with Jinxy. Look at how silly Jinx looks with that white head scarf.
