Former Malayan communist chief Chin Peng dies on LKY's birthday

BANGKOK - Chin Peng, former secretary-general of the Malayan Communist Party (MCP), died at a hospital in Bangkok on Monday morning. He was 90 years old.

He died of old age and was pronounced dead at 6.20am, reports said.

His relatives will perform religious rites for him on Friday, Bangkok Post reported.

Chin Peng led the MCP's guerrilla insurgency and fought against British and Commonwealth forces to establish an independent Communist state

What bloody communism is this, communism not suppose to have religion isn't it?

Rest in Peace Chin, you have fought a good fight.

Chin Peng was probably a fake Communist like his master Mao Zedong.

Though Marx himself felt that organized religion retarded the emancipation of society, communism per se is not incompatible with religion. In fact communism in Latin America is based on a Christian communism, springing from Catholic liberation theology.

the Soviets called Mao Zedong a fake Communist from the 1930s to his death. Mao publicly declared that the CCP practiced Chinese style pragmatic Communism ?? that was different from Moscow. think Stalin's communism was different from his predecessor Lenin. i don't know what the hell this Chin Peng's Communist beliefs were.

ChinPeng with the British

Chin peng's war to liberate Malaya from the British was doomed from the start....... when Lai Teck the original commie chief was unmasked as a Spy for Malayan Special Branch. He fled with all the cash of the Party, leaving Chin Peng with a penetrated and cashless organisation.......

Lai Teck was tracked down to Bangkok by Chin Peng himself and was killed by the Thai communists whist trying to abduct him on Chin Peng's request.......

Lai Teck changed the course of history for Malaya and Singapore........

Lai Teck, “Lai Teck”; 莱特, Secretary-General of the Malayan Communist Party (1939-1947). He was also an agent for the French, the British and during the Japanese Occupation years, an agent for the Japanese Military Police, the “Kempeitai”

did Chin Peng's forces really have a chance to liberate Malaya at the onset or it was just an unrealistic goal ? did the Chinese Communist Party give any aid in the form of materials and cashes to Chin Peng ?

There is no way CPM even with the support from the CCP can gain power in Malaya considering the demographic profile of the country. It drew its support from the Chinese who in the 1950s/1960s made up no more than a third of the population. The majority Muslim Malays will never embrace communism.

without Chin Peng's fight, the british would never have granted citizenship to the chinks in malaya so quickly, if at all.

all chinks today including old man lee owe it to CP for winning them the right to reside in Malay Malaya.

that was the indirect result of Chin Peng's fight. that was not his original purpose. can't credit him for it. history's turn of events are often very ironic. anyway what was the situation of the Chinese people in Malaya and Singapore in the 1950s after the CCP closed China's door to the outside world and the KMT abandoned the overseas Chinese: they had no way of absorbing the large number of Chinese from Southeast Asia on small Taiwan. was it a foregone conclusion that the Chinese people would eventually get the rights to reside in Malaya then.

the stars were aligned on 16 sep 2013...

Like this. "When the moon is in the Seventh House, and Jupiter aligns with Mars, this is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, Age of Aquarius, Aquarius! Aquarius!" pointing one direct, do we see the sudden return of Halley's Comet...it is the dawning of the "age of Aquarius"...

:D

If Bung Karno had his way during the Undeclared War (Konfrontasi) these region would be known as MAPHILINDO or Malaya, Phillippines and Indonesia.

We still have a chance to be known as SSS or Sabah, Sarawak & Singapore, unless off course the Sulu "Sultan" ensconced in Lahad Datu succeeds.

Don't forget Brunei which already behave like singapore's colony.

not crediting him. just acknowledging the facts. it will be irresponsible not to acknowledge the rights granted to the chinese arose as a result of this conflict.

true the chinks would eventually have residency rights, but it will be on the Tengku's terms, whims and fancies. The British were forced to act to give favorable residency rights to the chinks as part of the strategy to contain and defeat the communist.

A documentary about the malayan emergency...

Sungai Siput MP Dr Michael Jeyakumar said Chin Peng's death marked the end of an era.
"He was a resourceful leader in difficult times," he said, adding that whatever Chin Peng did was for the greater good of the people.
"He did not intend to make himself or his cronies rich. It was for the benefit of the country," he said, reiterating that if there was no armed struggle, the British might not have given Malaya independence."

the British would only not give up the colony of Hongkong. it is recorded that the British leaders told the American equivalents several times then the UK would eventually grant all its colonies independence but at its own discretion and time frame. Chin Peng's armed struggle might have accelerated the independence process but that was the indirect result or affect of the conflict which greatly inconvenienced the people of Malaya for a prolonged period.

did Chin Peng's forces had any linkup with the Communist Party of Thailand then ? it is said that Chin Peng wanted to give up the armed conflict in the 1960s but he was persuaded to continue the revolution cause by the CCP leaders ?
