PUTRAJAYA: Former finance minister Lim Guan Eng has been arrested over the controversial Penang undersea tunnel project.
He was arrested at 9.30pm at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters here on Thursday (Aug 6).
According to sources from the MACC, Lim will be charged at the KL Sessions Court on Friday (Aug 7) morning.
Lim earlier arrived at the MACC headquarters here at 9.10pm in a white Vellfire.
The controversial RM6.3bil Penang undersea tunnel project was again probed by the anti-graft authority following fresh leads.
Graft investigators had questioned close to a dozen people over the case.
This includes Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and state exco members Jagdeep Singh Deo, Chong Eng, and Phee Boon Poh.
The MACC has also visited the offices of state Public Works, Utilities and Flood Mitigation Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari and Deputy Chief Minister ll Dr P. Ramasamy at Komtar.
Lim served as Penang chief minister between 2008 and 2018.
